…How do ideas come? What a question! If they come of their own accord, they are apt to arrive at the most unexpected time and place. For the most part the place is out of doors, for up in this northern wilderness when nature puts on a show it is an inspiring one. There seem to be magic days once in a while, with some rare quality of light that hold a body spellbound: In sub-zero weather there will be a burst of unbelievable color when the mountain turns a deep purple, a thing it refuses to do in summer. Then comes the hard part: how to plan a picture so as to give to others what has happened to you. To render in paint an experience, to suggest the sense of light and color, air and space, there is no such thing as sitting down outside and trying to make a “portrait” of it. This design I did back in 2007 for an employee at Sears for her business card, I was paid and gotten credit for this, the goal was to showcase more fractal art designs at the time in Indiana, since so few artists know of it but hardly it’s been a big thing as in using it for art shows and such, I did my part so at least it was successful while it lasted. P.S. I see this is as a spring design theme too. Enjoy!!

Made in Ultra Fractal 5, except for the signature. I made this back in March, when the weather was playing tricks on us, making us think that Spring was here. A few days of seasonable weather was followed by a big storm that dumped several inches of snow in our yard.

I won’t even begin to say how many times I rearranged this piece, getting everything just right. / This was made using the tutorial I created, with a massive overhaul, i switched orbit traps, to orbit traps gradient. For me Autumn meant, going to Central Oregon, and being with my Grandmother. Her house decked out in all the fall colors, and bouquets, the smell of cinnamon, and cooking food. Her laughter, and jokes swirling about the house, the family bustling to prepare the food, while my grandfather sipped scotch and told stories to all of us. Their both long gone now.And now I don’t have much of a family, but I always have the memories, of the warmth, laughter, and togetherness, that is the Autumn Holiday Season. The spheres: My Grandmother’s Collection of crystal balls, and the love she had for all of us. The pads represent my grandfather, holding us all together, and the falling leaves, and flowers are the bouquets all over the house.
