Until recently, this rose had been living in a pot at my boyfriend’s parents property in Emerald. It had never flowered, and when we brought it to our place, it was almost dead. I’m not much of a gardener myself, but he’s managed to get it to flower after a couple of months care. It now has four flowers, and the whole plant looks extremely healthy.

‘TIS THE LAST ROSE OF SUMMER ‘TIS the last rose of summer, / Left blooming alone ; / All her lovely companions / Are faded and gone ; / No flower of her kindred, / No rose-bud is nigh, / To reflect back her blushes, / Or give sigh for sigh. I’ll not leave thee, thou lone one ! / To pine on the stem ; / Since the lovely are sleeping, / Go sleep thou with them. / Thus kindly I scatter / Thy leaves o’er the bed, / Where thy mates of the garden / Lie scentless and dead. So soon may I follow, / When friendships decay, / And from Love’s shining circle / The gems drop away. / When true hearts lie wither’d, / And fond ones are flown, / Oh ! who would inhabit / This bleak world alone ? Romance is back. I needed to work on an image with a touch of warmth today as it’s -7 outside. A composite of various photographic, text and texture layers (21 layers in total) Another in the series of works including poetry by my favourite poet Emily Dickinson. WHEN roses cease to bloom, dear, / And violets are done, / When bumble-bees in solemn flight / Have passed beyond the sun, / / The hand that paused to gather / Upon this summer’s day / Will idle lie, in Auburn,— / Then take my flower, pray!
Inspired by a poem by Emily Dickinson again and dedicated to Judi Taylor for all her messages of support and compassion. The Poem: And this of all my Hopes / This, is the silent end / Bountiful colored, my Morning rose / Early and sere, its end Never Bud from a Stem / Stepped with so gay a Foot / Never a Worm so confident / Bored at so brave a Root

This art started out as a photograph of a black-capped chickadee sitting on a cedar tree branch in the woods behind our home. / After several hours in Photoshop and Painter X this is the final result. Every pixel of this piece was re-painted (digitally) by hand to give the image a painted look. ..am feeling at peace this morning, because it’s cold & windy out there but very cozy in cyberspace lol! ...this wonderful poem written by sweet Sally Omar ...SERENADE OF SOULS . / “it was a low whispering / a murmur ever so faint / that drove me closer to heaven / for pictures it did paint / i could hear love and peace / and murmurs of total joy / a serenade so profound / for only me to enjoy / it was a time when i was lonely / and felt no one was my friend / i was somewhere in limbo / close to the edge to the end / suddenly in the evening / when all the lights were turned low / the murmurs started / they started out very slow / i could hear so much love / a choir of Angels did sing / and in my loneliness / heaven and peace they did bring / the voices got a little louder / and spoke of the love of our Lord / Jesus is our Saviour / and in the end is our reward / from that day forward / i danced toward the heavens so sweet / knowing my Lord and Saviour / one day I would meet.” by Sally Omar / a first experimental digital creation using apophysis & flower photo from my garden… ...
