these lotus flowers are huge. the bud is a bit bigger than a baseball, and the open blossom is about the diameter of a basket ball (when fully opened). just had to shoot these two – side by side at various stages in their floral existence! Lilies
by Kate Eller30”x 40” acrylic on Number 80 Bainbridge Board cold-pressed. I used gesso to cover the beginnings of something I had started a long time ago. I have been working on this off and on for the past couple of weeks…...... between giving time to two grandsons, ten cats, and a dog. First large painting, and first flowers I have done in a while. My inspiration has been all the wonderful florals I have seen on RedBubble! There are so many beautiful paintings and drawings on this site….....all are an inspiration for me to paint and draw again.

Taking close ups of water Lily’s in Far North Queensland you need a steady hand. Mine was shaking because I knew that there were huge Saltwater crocs lurking in these waters.
