  • The pansy or pansy violets are a large group of hybrid plants cultivated as garden flowers. Pansies are derived from Viola species Viola tricolor hybridized with other viola species, these hybrids are referred to as Viola × wittrockiana or less commonly Viola tricolor hortensis. The name “pansy” also appears as part of the common name for other Viola species that are wildflowers in Europe. Some unrelated species, such as the Pansy Monkeyflower, also have “pansy” in their name. / Wikipedia / Panasonic FZ20

Possible causes for this are the presence of cyanoethyl cobaloxime complexes in the petals but sadly none have ever been recovered for study due to the very probable non-existence of it. / It is also commonly known as the Catarli flower, this is thought to be a reference to Ctrl + i* It is pictured here on a wrought-iron gate (actually stainless steel) to show the effect, the design of which is mostly geometric and has a solid plate welded in behind the lightbulb which is a symbol for thought. The whole thing took about two weeks and I spent the first measuring out the gate and pillars meticulously. Then I put in the lightbulb and the flower. I spent as long rubbing stuff out as I did laying stuff down and left the patina on the lower end of the gate, that’s at least how dark the page would be if I hadn’t erased everything in the gaps around the different elements as I went along. / If anyone actually wants a copy let me know and I’ll go get it scanned properly. I only uploaded a small one here as the transfer was going so slowly at full size. / If anybody’s curious to know what’s beyond the gate the answer is a page Pencil on A3 and PS / Original for sale Add *theyellowfury to your watchlist Copyright © 2008 Simon Deevy.
