Long exposure of moths circling some floodlights. The long exposure has captured the light trails of the moths.
A long exposure capturing the trails of moths as they circle around some floodlights
An action shot taken of the humboldt crabs near the end of the second to last game of the 2007 season… players are running to bases after a hit was made…
Humboldt crabs team lining up (possibly for a photo shoot from a different angle) / at the end of the second to last game of the season 2007.
After the fashion show, there were nothing left but the lights
The ‘strangeness’ in these extremely tall floodlights – almost bird-like attracted me. / I couldn’t have found a nicer blue sky for a natural background – the fluffy white clouds added a soft surreal feel to this for me. / Hope you enjoy it too. Suzanne
This Little Corella was one of many that were landing on floodlights at a recreation reserve. They hopped and climbed all over the lights, hanging precariously by their beaks at times.
I was experimenting with night shots at the local mall and this was the pick of the bunch. Regards, Mike
Ladychapel Church, located at country crossroads a couple of miles outside Maynooth Co. Kildare. It is floodlit at night and looks striking arising out .of the surrounding darkness. / Built in 1867 and is a Chapel of Ease to St. Mary’s church in Maynooth.
Taken at “The Enchanted Forest” at Loch Faskally, near Pitlochry during the event of the same name. The Enchanted Forest is a sound and light show, which was launched in 2002 and now takes place annually around October time. It’s a great experience. This photo isn’t digitally altered in any way – the trees are lit by floodlights. http://www.orcadiaimages.co.uk
... where are you?
An image created in Adobe Photoshop from 2 of my photographs. The main photograph is simply the foot of a huge flood light post. The colour has been altered slightly to create a duller, more sincere atmosphere. And the photograph inside the hole is a sunset which has been carefully positioned and chosen to fit with the colour theme of the main image.
More Fizz-bang shenanigans at the AMI Stadium, Christchurch, NZ. June 2008. / Best viewed behind a fire blanket.
Another dusk shot of Edinburgh from Calton Hill. This time looking straight down Prince Street, the main thoroughfare, showing light trails of the traffic as well as the iconic Balmoral Hotel, formerly one of the great railway company hotels. It’s clock, sitting high above the main rail station has always been set five minutes fast to help trady travellers catch their trains – the tradition continues to this day. Shot on a tripod mounted Nikon D300 and a Nikon 18-200 VR lens
Suburban simplicity from Budapest 15th district.

Drežnica at dusk. With the light fading fast, the church bells began to ring and the sound echoed throughout the valley… spine-tinglingly beautiful.

young wes, my grandson, wanted to go sea fishing, as the tides were awkward, we went tonight. i took the opportunity to take another look at the floodlit pier, and cliff lift!
I had to admit to my nephew on a recent visit that despite living only five minutes from the pier at Saltburn by the Sea in North Yorkshire, that I had never photographed it by night. Today I put things right. Taken with Nikon D80.18 to 135 lens at 18mm / 3 images at f16 with exposures from 10 to 30 seconds
