  • Had my first go at long exposures using car lights last night. Not a great photo, but turned out pretty cool I think :) :) Taken in North Kellerberrin, looking South towards the Hill and the Glow from the Oval Lights.

  • August 6th, 2003 / On the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima (August 6th), they hold a ceremony in which lanterns are sent floating along the Motoyasu-gawa River, in front of the A-bomb Dome. The lanterns used to float out to ocean. Nowadays they are caught down river for environmental reasons. This is done in remembrance of those whose lives were lost and in hopes that all nuclear weapons will be destroyed. I arrived in Hiroshima a bit late on the 6th so unfortunately I missed of the action around the Peace Park but there had been speeches and demonstrations. The floating of the lanterns lasted for 3 hours. / It was a somber evening and a beautiful expression in the struggle for the worldwide disarmament of nuclear weapons, if not world peace and a clear reminder of what the opposite can lead to.

  • loved the reflections from these, it was so still and i thought this looked good, i think i’m having a river day !!!!!!

  • In Mesopotamian myth, life arose from the mingling of Apsu, the sweet waters on which the earth floated, and the salt waters, personified by the chaos – goddess Tiamat who gave birth to all things and whose destruction led to the organized world. The sea is a maternal image and implies transformation and rebirth. It is also a symbol of infinite wisdom, and in psychology, of the unconscious. / Wax, acrylics, pigment and metallic leaf

  • Temptation is difficult to resist, especially when I’m tempted by such attractive morsels like these macaroons, so brightly coloured and scrumptious looking. Fortunately I find them far too sweet for my taste and am happy to admire the way they look, draw them and leave them for others to enjoy.

I was shocked just getting shortlisted. I’m quite humbled . Last summer I spent living on a boat in the North Pacific on the north west side of The Queen Charlotte Islands in Canada. (left is Graham Islans & right is Hippa) I can’t describe it and I’m one to go on about things. Living with the same 8 people in isolation for 120 days… you need to get away. I spent a lot of time in the kayak. I had never done it before and I fell in love. I kayaked in the ocean. Curious seals befriended me from their cautious distance of about 4 feet. Watching sunsets floating in the middle of nowhere is a priceless experience & I’d often pass up warn dinner to be out there. I quite liked the name of the little plastic vessel. ‘Perception’. That’s what it’s all about for me. this photo is not selective colour edited. it is a full colour photograph. shot with my Canon Rebel XT (that’s x-tra trout, baby!) Look! my very own motivational poster! Coming soon to a gloomy office near you! /
