WHITE FRAGRANT WATER LILY / “Nymphaea odorata” / Best viewed large. / / / / “WHITE FRAGRANT WATER LILY” has been FEATURED in the group A PLACE TO CALL HOME / / / This is a macro shot of a “WHITE FRAGRANT WATER LILY,” and it is a beautiful flower that belongs to the genus Nymphaea, whose botanical name is “Nymphaea odorata.” Also known as “Beaver Root,” this stunning flower can commonly be found in lake shallows, ponds, and permanent slow moving waters throughout North America and Canada. It has a very round leaf. / / This aquatic plant is rooted from a branched rhizomes which give rise to long petioles which terminate in smooth ovate floating leaves. The flowers also float and are generally typical of waterlilies. They are radially symmetric with prominent yellow stamens and many white petals. The flowers open each day and close again each night. The “WHITE FRAGRANT WATER LILY” is extremely fragrant. Trashy Trinket Store in Placida, Florida. This one is actually not a full blown tourist center. Nearby is an artist’s gallery (next to the fish market LOL). I love visiting here as often as I can.
