THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN IN 1984, WHILE RETURNING FROM POINT REYES LIGHT HOUSE ALONG THE COAST OF CALIFORNIA. HIGHWAY 1 ISN’T ANY FUN IN A CAR, BUT IT IS A KICK ON A MOTORCYCLE. ESPECIALLY A 1981 HONDA GOLD WING 1100 INTERSTATE. MY FRIEND AND I USED TO TRAVEL TO THE COAST QUITE FREQUENTLY WHEN I HAD MY BIKE. IN THIS SHOT OF JANET RUBBING NOSES WITH A COW IT LOOKS LIKE SHE IS “ALASKAN FLIRTING IN CALIFORNIA”. YOU KNOW, HOW THEY RUB NOSES AND ALL. OF COURSE IN ALASKA, THEY DO IT WITH PEOPLE TO PEOPLE AND NOT COWS, I THINK. ANY HOW, I COULDN’T RESIST SHOOTING THIS IMAGE TO KEEP AS BLACK MAIL IF EVER NEEDED. SINCE I NEVER NEEDED IT FOR DEFENCE, I AM GOING GIVE HER A FRAMED IMAGE OF IT FOR HER TO HANG IN HER HOUSE. I’M SURE THAT SHE HAS FORGOTTEN ALL ABOUT THIS SHOT, SO IT WILL BE FUN TO SEE HER REACTION WHEN SHE SEES IT.

This is an old bridge that I’ve seen for years on the way to visit family and always thought it looked fascinating. Part of the bridge had to be “removed” because it was too small for two lanes of traffic but the rest was left where it was and the plants took over from there. Once I brought the picture back to my computer I thought I’d try a few effects to make it look like I drew it. I’m trying out a few techniques before I find something I like.
