This is the view from just outside a cafe near Smith Street. I think it was in Richmond, might be Fitzroy! I wanted to capture these chipped, ageing colourful chairs in their true setting.
I have never seen a sky as blue as this and it seemed the perfect setting to throw myself off a fallen lifeguard tower.
Although nature photography is probably my favorite sometimes I see ordinary objects sitting in a particular way and have to take a picture. Rarely do I move objects to compose a picture because I think things in the world are amazing just the way they are- you just have to look at them the right way. I was laying on my family’s old dock at our lake place in the sun and looked over at my flip flops and had to run back to the beach to get my camera for a picture :) I did take what color there was in the dock out in photoshop to focus the eye more on the old blue flip flops. /

Here is my newest work finished just now; this is Ms. Sarah and you will be seeing lots of her. We just finished a crazy BIG Shoot in Memphis at the Memphis College of Art (MCA)—we shot inside and out, so I got some verrrrrrry cool pics to work with. I got my start there as a 12 year old kid going to Saturday School-I did that for four years-I always wished I could go there for college-BUT—life happened! Hope you like this one, as I have been shooting nature studies with this very kind of piece in mind. To me it comes off like she is hoping you don’t see her there hiding on the flipped mushroom??? What do you think???
Is this expressing movement or freezing motion ?? Both !! Is this also a portrait or just another action shot ?? Dore Schary says that the true portrait of a man is a fusion of what he thinks he is, what others think he is, what he really is and what he tries to be !!
Sketch style done Illustrator with the pen tool and mouse {no i don’t have a tablet :(} Bit of an an experiment. Close up /
