  • A watercolor I painted for a contest featuring Industrial themes. At the time many auto plants and then the domino effect of small business closings was in my thoughts when I painted this. Flint, Michigan is one of Michigan’s cities hit the hardest hit.

  • Hand car wash in Flint, MI. I just happened to be going by when these oldies were parked out front. It was like time traveling. Even the houses in the background looked like they were from another era.

  • FAITHFUL IS HE WHO HAS PROMISED [poem by Annie Johnson Flint] / Are you passing through a testing. Is your pillow wet with tears? Do you wonder what the reason, Why it seems God never hears? Why it is you have no answer To your oft, repeated plea, Why the heaven still is leaden As you wait on bended knee? Do you wonder as you suffer, Whether God does understand, And if so, why He ignores you, Fails to hold you in His Hand? / Do black doubts creep in, assail you, Fears without—and fears within, Till your brave heart almost falters And gives way to deadly sin? All God’s testings have a purpose, Someday you will see the light. All He asks is that you trust Him, Walk by faith and not by sight. / Do not fear when doubts beset you, Just remember – He is near; He will never, never leave you, He will always, always hear. Faithful is He who has promised, He will never let you fall, Daily will the strength be given Strength for each and strength for all. / He will gladly share pain with you, He will gladly give you peace. Till your tired and weary body Finds its blessed, glad release. When the darkened veil is lifted, Then, dear heart, you’ll understand Why it is you had to suffer, Why you could not feel His hand Giving strength when it was needed, Giving power and peace within. Giving joy thru tears and trial, Giving victory over sin. So till then just keep on trusting, Thru the sunshine and the rain. [Heb. 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)]

  • Urban archeology is all around if you look… Windmill Pine has a pair of overhead cranes, each rated up to 10 tons – which is a bit excessive for hefting furniture. Besides which, WP used the cranes as ad-hoc mountings for air ducts – rendering them immovable – which suggests this building owes the greater part of it’s heritage to heavy engineering… Sited on the location of the Wm Foster tractor works [inventors and manufacturers of the world’s first tanks], and just across the road from Rustons [a peace time competitor and fellow tank works], it wouldn’t surprise me if this buliding was used for the production of heavy [agricultural?] equipment at some point.

  • I’d just finished shooting ‘Charnel No.5’, turned around and stopped dead in my tracks - Once I’d remembered how to breathe again I realized this could well be the the shot of the day. Can’t imagine being more pleased with how it turned out. The Flickr Sprites really were on my side this time…

  • you have to read the bible to understand this one, thats just the way it is. Its whats in the heart will come out and when you put the Word in there , its in there and it will come out…..........amen! Isaiah 50:7 For the LORD God will help me; therefore shall i not be confounded: therefore have i set my face like a flint, and i know that i shall not be ashamed. So be it and amen!

  • Biro pen on A4 paper ”...thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink.” the thirsty souls in the wilderness murmured against Moses and cried out for water, so God told Moses to take his staff and smite the rock. He did and out gushed the water upon the thirsty.. Miraculous enough was this event in its time, but as it so often is in the Old Testament, the people couldn’t know the spiritual significance of the events they were caught up in. / For the bible teaches that Christ is the Rock, and thee most crucial event in the book is the smoting of Christ, sealed by His immortal line ‘it is finished’ . Once Christ was smote his human mission was complete, no sacrifice or blood is necessary thereafter, the way is opened up for all humanity to have direct communion with God through his son. / So this Moses rock smoting incident had powerful spiritual meaning, and when Israel began murmuring and asking for more water, God told Moses to go back to the rock and this time ‘talk’ to it (the line of communication now open) – but a hot-headed Moses never listened, and instead he smote it again with his staff / For that awesome spiritual blasphemy of re-slaying the messiah, a blasphemy beyond his earthly comprehension, Moses was banished from entering the promised land he had strived towards for so many years, his story culminating in an emotion stirring scene where he sits on the mountain looking down on the land he had led his people to, but would never set foot in , such are the amazing tales that pour out of the book Psa 114:8 Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.

  • Taken on the 6.5.09 at 2.20pm My market town church. / This is the front view of the C/E church called St Johns it is in the center of the Market town of Harleston . I liked how it is balanced by the 2 windows each side of the door way, which is a massive in size. The walls are made of flint hard black grey in colur and very sharp. Inside there is a mixture of old and new stained class windows. It seems to have a major place in the commuinty and a strong collection of people that attend it. they hold regul;ar coffee mornings and cake stalls and the local primary school fills in pews at certain times of the years. there are other churches with in the town but this is on one of the main streets and dominates. Nikon D90 camera and nikkor 18-105 vr lens Focal length 18mm / F/. 9 / Exposure 1/320 / IS0 400 Slight level change in photoshop and then processed in redynamix 1 image software to help bring up the stone work.
