been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.

This was just a lucky catch. My wife got some tulips for her birthday and I took one out as the sun was setting to try a get a nice shot. I put the vase down & as soon as I turned my back I heard the hummer behind me, I turned back around and had time to get off one shot before she realized she wasn’t interested in tulips. / Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona, with a Canon 20D. I was totally in Awe as these beautiful birds flew overhead yesterday evening shooting in the Noosa Basin again.. I noticed them in the distance a few days back, with my earlier shots, and was determined to get these close. I didn’t manage to get too close unfortunately, but did snap this one. They come here in the evenings to hang out on a small dead tree. I will get these close one day soon :) Fingers crossed they hang around for a while. They have a beautiful “sing” call, rather than the other species of cockatoo seems to be more a “squark”.. Canon 50D, 400mm. Noosa Basin, Noosaville, Queensland. This was the last shot I managed to get with the 1/400 shutter, then most the captured were blurred due to low light. Available Large, best viewed large!

Digital art inspired by the beauty of Hagerman Wildlife Refuge located near my home in Texas. I love to visit the refuge and spend time taking it all in….....presented here with my 5/7/5, 17-syllable haiku: changing of seasons / flocks of wild geese flying south; / hear the lonesome calls This artwork has been FEATURED in the “Southern Style: A Downhome Perspective” group! I think every Australian knows of Port Arthur, for dark events that happened here, both in the recent past, and early days of Australia. A correctional facility for the re-offending criminals from Britain and Ireland, this was more than just a jail. It was about changing these men to rejoin society. It was used from 1833 until the 1877 when it was closed down. This was the main church, and it was one of Australia’s first non-denominational churches. Built using convict labour, in the gothic style. The bird in the shot is a crow. I did try to get one of the many rosellas in the area in the shot, but no luck there. Canon 50D, 10mm. As most of you know now, the East Coast of Australia was covered by a thick blanket of desert dust, was actually top soil, dried out by the severe drought conditions of the past several months in outback New South Wales. Thousands of tonnes of valuable top soil, out to sea. Didn’t hit the Sunshine Coast of Queensland till about 12 mid-day on the Wednesday, 23rd September, 2009. Was amazing, one minute it’s clear, then you can’t see anything about 500 metres away.. The sky was glowing orange, and the sun looked like the moon! In this shot, I managed to capture an eagle, soaring very low, as they hunted in the dusty conditions. The wind was also strong, and these beautiful birds could do their entire hunt without beating a wing! I hope you enjoy this shot, I know there is millions of shots out there of this event, and it probably will not happen again for many many years.. Canon 50D, 17mm. No filters or colour adjustment to this shot. this is as it looked, creepy! Available Large and best viewed Large!
