A female Antarctic Fur Seal takes a break from the hectic task of… well… being a fur seal. She’s resting on Azorella “cushion plant” on Heard Island in the southern Indian Ocean.
This is the start of the path to one of the highest peaks in Virginia. It is an High Dynamic Range photograph made from three exposures. Only an emphasis of the light was done in Photoshop.

An old Holden left for dead in Marysville, Victoria, Australia. Found it with all its windows smashed in and covered in Graffiti. HDR done in Photomatix, converted to black and white in Adobe Lightroom. Sales 8 Greeting Cards On Saturday the 7th of February my family lost our home away from home at Marysville, as well as our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks and our Abyssinian cat. My condolences go to anyone who also lost family, friends or property on this terrible weekend, and I know deep down that Marysville will be back and better than ever, in the near future… Click here for my other photos of cars! Backwaters of the River Murray at Lyrup near sunset, late afternoon. Majestic old dead gums still standing out against the skyline. These flats are situated near Lyrup in the Riverland area of South Australia between Berri and Renmark. A great place for sunrise or sunset. Three shot stitch in Photoshop CS3. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with Polarising filter.

The Flat Earth Society / “The facts are simple,” says Charles K. Johnson, president of the International Flat Earth Research Society. “The earth is flat.” He believes that the main purpose of the space program is to prop up a dying myth—the myth that the earth is a globe. “Nobody knows anything about the true shape of the world,” he contends. The sun and moon, in the Johnson version, are only about 32 miles in diameter. They circle above the earth in the vicinity of the equator, and their apparent rising and setting are tricks of perspective, like railroad tracks that appear to meet in the distance. The moon shines by its own light and is not eclipsed by the earth. Rather, lunar eclipses are caused by an unseen dark body occasionally passing in front of the moon. Johnson’s beliefs are firmly grounded in the Bible.
The sad part of my recent visit to the Riverland of South Australia. A backwater area, normally with substantial water, slowly drying out in the drought with salt and acidification of the soil. The drought and inaction on the river levels is certainly causing irreversible damage. However it needs to be said that there is still plenty of water in the River Murray itself for activities and visits. We need to continue to support the tourism and other businesses along the river as they battle through hard times. So that said, go visit the river and its people and maybe drop back away from the river itself and see what is slowly happening to the backwaters. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with CIR Polarising filter. (Dirty boots and clothes from standing in the mud!!!!!) Thanks to Emjay01 for visiting with me, go and have a look at his site for images of the River in its beauty. seehere

Taken at Rhyll early in the morning when the tide was way out. On the way back from Cowes to Woolamai I thought I might stop by Rhyll as I had never been there before even after all the years we had a house there. I spotted this boat tied up in the mud and couldn’t resist a shot. My shoes sank into the mud real deep and had to give the tripod a good clean. Taken with my Canon 40D with polarising and graduated filters. Featured in the All About Boating group on the 19th of April 2009 One of the photos in my Phillip Island series, please click here to see the rest of my images in the series

As I walked into our living room, I saw my two sons sitting on the settee (couch) watching children’s television. Sitting there with a flat cap on, he looked as yorkshire as they come. I love the expression on his face, so full of wonder and excitement. This was the first time he sat and watched television with his brother.
