Arlington West is an ongoing display of the casualties in Iraq on East Beach in Santa Barbara, to protest against the war in Iraq, and increase the public awareness regarding the military and political fallout of staying there. Each Sunday morning thousands of crosses, as the number of the fallen, for that day, are placed in the sand and volunteers are providing the public with up to the moment information on casualties plus individual stories on the fallen. This image was taken at memorial day 2007 as a tribute and memorial and as a cry for peace… The combination of the loss and hope for peace left a profound impact on me. / Eyal Nahmias First place: Personal meaning challenge @ Photography Challenge Group Featured: Photography Challenge Group, October 2009 / Featured: Male Photography Group, September 2009 / Featured: Street Photography and Photojournalism Group, January 2009 Nikon D70
A simple flag Iris- Love the shape and beauty of irises! Secretive flowers- hiding their inner, sensitive, intiguing inner parts. You’ll all think ‘that woman’s gone bonkers.’ However I have a serious love affair with all things that come from the earth. Natures bounty a joy to behold. It gives me great pleasure to watch things grow- hopefully this’ll give you pleasure too! /

This view, of the mountain and prayer flags, taken at Ganden monastery in Tibet was magical. The air was thin and the walking tough, but it was worth it. SOLD: One Framed Print to the lovely Sal. Thank you Sal!
The Flat Earth Society / “The facts are simple,” says Charles K. Johnson, president of the International Flat Earth Research Society. “The earth is flat.” He believes that the main purpose of the space program is to prop up a dying myth—the myth that the earth is a globe. “Nobody knows anything about the true shape of the world,” he contends. The sun and moon, in the Johnson version, are only about 32 miles in diameter. They circle above the earth in the vicinity of the equator, and their apparent rising and setting are tricks of perspective, like railroad tracks that appear to meet in the distance. The moon shines by its own light and is not eclipsed by the earth. Rather, lunar eclipses are caused by an unseen dark body occasionally passing in front of the moon. Johnson’s beliefs are firmly grounded in the Bible.

Prayer flags and tombstones of Thokla Pass 4830m with Himalayan mountain scenery in the Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal. Ama Dablam 6856m dominates the skyline in the centre of the photo with Taboche Peak 6367m to the right and Pokalde 5806m to the left. It was a five hour climb from Dingboche to Thokla pass and the culmination of happiness at reaching so high up amongst the world’s highest peaks was also filled with the emotion of seeing the rock cairn memorials of the climbers who had died in those mountains. Every step of the two hour walk to Lobuche that afternoon was an effort, walking across a rocky moonscape at the foot of the Khumbu Glacier. The prayer flags represent the elements of the five pure lights with blue being sky, white air, red fire, green water and yellow earth. The ancient Buddhist prayers, mantras and powerful symbols displayed on them produce a spiritual vibration that is activated and carried by the wind across the land. The Wind Horse (Lung-ta) carrying the “Wish Fulfilling Jewel of Enlightenment” is the most prevalent symbol used on prayer flags and represents good luck. Featured in Flags in Motion and Himalaya. /
Barack Obama – Change for America, for the World, for All of Us – The Audacity of Hope On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama defeated John McCain and became the first African American to be elected President of the United States. In his victory speech, delivered before a crowd of hundreds of thousands of his supporters in Grant Park in Chicago, Illonois, Obama proclaimed that “change has come to America.” Born in Hawaii, Obama will be the first U.S. President born outside the contiguous United States. He also will be fifth youngest President at the date of accession and the second since Lincoln whose primary political base is Illinois. This portrait illustrates and epitomizes the audacity of hope. President Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America on January 20, 2009. Selected information courtesy of Wikipedia. This is a puppy called Uno. He is an “American” Pit Bull Terrier. I was splitting a litter with a girl who got his Mom from me in 2008. Tragically he was the only puppy of 11 who survived. He is now in a wonderful home with a Mom and Dad and 3 kids who just adore him. His breed is truly American, and little Uno was Made In America! :)) / FEATURED IN CATS AND DOGS / FEATURED IN COUNTRY BUMPKIN / FEATURED IN THE APBT LOVERS GROUP / FEATURED IN OUR K9 FRIEND / FEATURED IN THE SCAVENGER HUNT PLACED IN THE TOP 10 IN THE PATRIOTIC PET CHALLENGE – PETS ARE US CHALLENGE WINNER – OUR 4TH OF JULY PETS – IN PAWS N CLAWS / / Also available in a T-Shirt HERE

This is Odin….he lives at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Odin is an 8 year old White Bengal Tiger who was hand raised, his trainer is Lee Munro. Odin is 10 feet long from nose to tail and he loves to swim; he is the star of the exhibit “Odin’s Temple of the Tiger”. Odin’s mother was the first White Tiger born at the park. I was so taken by this guy, he is so handsome and has such a personality. The face he is making here is actually keeping the water from going up his nose. A century ago there were about 100,000 tigers in the wild. Now there are just 2,500 adults, with the Bengal / variety almost extinct. None has been seen in the wild since the last white tiger was shot and killed in 1958. Deviantart Daily Deviation, 2009-08-06 Winner of the Best Featured Work Challenge / 11/10/09 – 368
