  • Here’s one specially for Tainia who, I know, likes this kind of scene. This is another of the wonderful beach scenes at Bremer Bay on the Southern Ocean in the far south of Western Australia, some 500+ kms from Perth. During spring Southern Right whales can often be seen quite close to this beach, although we had to drive best part of 50kms in order to see them on this occasion.

  • Following on from my previous photo, when we were driving through the Fitzgerald River National park, before very long we came to a side track that was a) passable and b) led to this delightful place. Totally unspoilt and known to only a comparative few it was sheer joy to break our journey and walk along this wonderful, deserted beach and dangle our toes in the Southern Ocean. Very well worth the effort of driving about 600 kms down from Perth.

  • Original oil on canvas (30” x 30”) by Gary Stewart of jazz legends (from left to right, top to bottom) Miles Davis, Billie Holliday, Louie “Satchmo” Armstrong, and Ella Fitzgerald.

  • Featured in / Toy Dogs R Us – August 2009 Challenge Top Ten / The Woman Photographer – Black with a Hint of Color – July 2009 / Cats & Dogs – Brown Colored Dogs – June 2009 This is my gorgeous Ella Fitzgerald. You might mistake her for a BLACK pug – but I think this shot proves she was a deep chocolate. She was rescued from the pound nearly bald from mange. She was 4 months old at the time. A few weeks after this shot – Ella got stung by a bee & went into anaphylactic shock – and the vets could not save her. She was 11 months old. Her brother Grisbi (also in my portfolio) misses her even more than I do – and that is hard. Below is as she was found, abandoned at the pound at 4 months old – in August 2008:

  • This is on the Southern Ocean in the far south of Western Australia and at the bottom end of the Fitzgerald River National Park, some 500 kms south of Perth I doubt it gets many visitors over a year because it IS rather isolated, but what a beautiful place to stumble upon!!
