Photograph was taken at Osaka aquarium during my visit to Japan in 2006 . I used a Nikon D70 and a 50mm 1.4 lens. Camera set in apperture priority at F2.0. Shutter speed 1/40. There was quite strong overhead lighting in the tank. Focus was difficult because the tank was a round shape. I took quite a few shots but this one was the most appealing in terms of the way the jellies lined up. Credit is also to Sophie who was waiting patiently as I was taking the 100’s of photographs over three hours at the aquarium. She did well – and kept her complaining to a minimum because she could see that I was enjoying myself. Must be love

First fish Freddy of the original Siamese Fighting Fish clan, blasts off in his bowl. His mission, to avenge the insults levelled at his earth cousins, by grumpy humanoids. Aggressive and down in the mouth, indeed! He would show them, the water in his bowl was adjusting for space flight, shimmering slightly as the shock wave passed and he entered orbit. Soon he would shut down the hyperlink wormhole drive, drift gently into suspended animation, and wait. He clutched his shoalshifter, armed with the latest IRBMs (inter-reef ballistic missiles) and smiled, not that anyone would have noticed. He drifted into a deep sleep, as his bowl iced over and sped towards earth… My offering in a three-way collaboration. ChrisW wrote the story, “Dinner With Fighting Fish” and will add a ref photo. If my image fits Chis’ concept, then master paintograher, Cliff Vestergaard, will weave his magic. 5000+views

The meaning of mandala comes from the Sanskrit word for both “CIRCLE” and “CENTRE” Even though it may be dominated by other geometric shapes like squares or triangles, a mandala will always remain a concentric (CIRCLE) structure. Mandalas offer balancing visual elements, symbolizing unity and harmony. The meanings of individual mandalas is usually different and unique to each mandala. For some, the goal of the mandala is to serve as a tool on one’s spiritual journey as it symbolizes cosmic and psychic order. For others, the mandala is used as a counter-balancing mechanism of one’s own psyche, (The spirit or soul) and a way for us to focus or meditate our way into becoming a whole person.

Completed April 2008. www.RainbowPathArtStudio.com “All living beings have the Buddha nature and can become Buddhas” / – Buddha Buddha Within illustrates the story of personal awakening. My understanding of the personal awakening process is that when undergoing the final awakening stage, the kundalini (rainbow serpent) becomes an intense fire (red/orange beside the tree trunk) shooting through the spine engulfing the body. The energy (green vortexes) required is enormous. As the kundalini reaches the crown chakra, it fully opens and all earthly limitations drop away. This being is no longer tied to a religion or faith but now embraces them all as represented by the sacred symbols in the tree. The consciousness now resides in the higher self and is one with the universe and all that is. When the transformation is complete sonic waves (the four vertical crystalline waves) travel out into the universe to let all of creation know of the grace that has taken place. All life is naturally drawn to the radiant and divine being that has become pure Buddha consciousness (centre). At each of the chakra points on the Buddha is a Swarovsky crystal in the relevant chakra colour. Crystal magnifies the properties of the chakra energy. / Buddha Within is divided into four quadrants (earth, fire, water, air) and the five elements including precious metals (bottom corners). The red veins dividing the quadrants represent the lower dimension (inner earth). The higher dimension is represented by the white equilateral triangle. If you look closely, you can see the texture of the underlying branches in the tree. These were meticulous painted before adding the covering of leaves. The tree must be complete in the physical, in order to emit the complete energy of the life form. Imbibed in the painting is sand from a sand mandala created by Gyuto Monks. They had spent a week painstakingly building an exquisite sand mandala. Upon its completion the mandala was ceremonially deconstructed and the sand poured into the local river for healing, accompanied by prayer and the blasting of Tibetan ceremonial horns. Some of the sand is held back and distributed to those who attend the ceremony: it holds sacred healing properties. I used some of the sand from this mandala, mixing it in the purple paint used for the crown charka encircling the white triangle and Buddha. Buddha Within is the third in a series and preceded by The Dream and The Awakening.

Taken at Kempenfelt Bay, Lake Simcoe, Barrie, Ontario Canada on Monday June 2nd/08. Leaning over the docks I noticed this school of minnows that kept dispersing and rejoining in intricate patterns in the water. My husband did not think I should upload this to RB but I find it an interesting abstract of the underwater world. A child of the sea, without a soul and forever a child/fish. I am curious about the ocean, about the human connection with the sea through evolution. All these dreams, myths and faerytales hint at something much more deeper. / When I swim in the ocean there is a hypnotic silence that complements the raw, wild power of the wind and water. / Although my heart beats rapidly I feel the silence and it’s familiar calming. Despite a gentle yet insistent reminder from my lungs that I need to breathe air, I feel the pull of the ocean. *I’m experimenting with backgrounds, I’m starting to feel I should move forward with my pencil drawings, imbue some emotion with colour/fabric/textute etc. Any sugguestions would be welcome.

As a child, my treasured stuffed animal (as all children tend to have) was a little squirrel who went on every kind of adventure with me, and my favorite story was about a lil’ squirrel named “Miss Suzy” – written by Miriam Young, and illustrated by Arnold Lobel. I love the thought of the tiny leaf-boat capturing the attention of the denizens of the pond as it passes by en route to a wonderous place. January 10th, 2009 – WOW!! A small English village, Hanley Swan in Worcestershire. It boasts a duckpond with a nesting platform. I was camping near there last summer and took a walk to this village.
