An old fishing shack on the riverbank of the St. Marks River in north Florida. What an amazing sight, someone’s old retreat. You have to have some kind of obsession with fishing to build a structure like this and use it every spare moment. What a beautiful testament to the power of an obsession.
acrylic painting on canvas, 16×20, Harbor scene on Monhegan Island, Maine Painting is $1800.00. size: 16” x20”
These were my Great Grandfather’s fishing shacks located in West Pennant, Nova Scotia. Unfortunately the last big storm has taken it’s toll on the old buildings and the main wharf is falling down. I myself have fished from this wharf with my Dad so I find it a very sad thing to see The fog came in the harbour thick today on account of the milder weather so I grabbed this shot If this is not quite what you are looking for you can check out the work of my Fiance “sruhs”http://www.redbubble.com/people/sruhs. We are most often together on photography excursions so his shots are of similar content; however, he has a different perspective and therefore his images are quite different.
This is another image from the Peggy’s Cove collection. I’m hoping (probably in vain) that this perspective hasn’t been shot all that often as i don’t like repeating someone else’s work. I don’t recall seeing this small village portrayed this way but that could just be that I missed it. I really love how this shot turned out and I hope you do too!
I took this shot in one of the many outport communities along Newfoundland’s Avalon Penninsula. There were so many of these crabpots stacked along side many different sheds. / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

Among the most important commercial activities in Cape Coast, Ghana is its commercial fishing fleet. Providing support to those who ply the ocean currents are the folks who repair the nets, process the fish and perform other economic activities essential to the trade. This means that the opportunities for great images begins in the water and carries on throughout the city but especially in the areas directly adjacent to the water. These fishing shanties provide shelter for those working in these ancillary economic activities as well as storage for much of the gear. —-—-—— / Wayne King travels regularly to Africa as a businesses consultant, nonprofit social entrepreneur and tour guide. This large oil painting of Pelican Bay is an inspiration from my heart and soul. I lived on my 36’ Columbia all alone for many years and sailed into Mexico from San Diego. I now live on the Central Coast of California where Pelican’s flock. The warm, welcome, glorious, feelings of the moon at sunset, old boats, and small harbors thrill all my senses. My hope is that viewers of this painting also experience the warm fuzzies that accompany nostalgic beauty.
