This is a mixture of watercolour and pastel and is of the Wansbeck, a local river where we spent most of our childhood – a time of wartime restrictions and no home entertainment beyond board games. In those days we fished for food rather than sport. Regardless, it was great fun.

For some reason this reminds me of a scene from Moby Dick… minus the whale of course. / / I was actually going Cod fishing with some friends for the first time off the Eastern coast of Newfoundland…. just had to bring the camera of course. Those clouds on the horizon kicked up such a fierce wind and it created some very large swells that relieved me of my lunch lol! Taken in Tobermory Bay, fishing boats have returned after a days fishing, i love the clouds and reflections in ths shot. 1 shot handheld, converted to 3 shots in CS2 then merged to HDR in photomatix. Levels, curves and saturation in CS2 Canon 400D / 18-55 lens / Hoya uv filter.

Old fishing boats moored at a very scenic little spot just to the side of Swansea Channel in New South Wales.
