The fishing boat is dwarfed by the setting sun as it heads home to harbour at Sattathip. Thank you to whoever purchased this image in a large laminated print format :<)
Nothing better than a spot of late night fishing at a coastal beach in summer. Pt Lonsdale, VIC A thank you to Bidkev for nominating this photo in the Pay It Forward Group. This what Kev had to say. I would like to nominate John Conway’s “Two Mates Fishing” A lot of my favourites are to do with fishing. Nothing settles me more and takes my mind of life’s tribulations than a peaceful day’s fishing. John has captured perfectly, the camaraderie that exists between two mates who have a love of the same pastime. If the sunsets are spectacular, as this one is, then that adds further to one’s enjoyment. This picture simply oozes mateship and peacefulness. Thanks Kev, very much appreciated

Sunset at Point Lonsdale Beach. just going through some stuff I had forgot to process. Taken a short time before was this one / /
I took this picture a couple of years ago at the beach of Marina di Grosseto, Tuscany, Italy. / This is a fine example I think of how a fisheye lens can completely change the feeling of an ordinary scene. The subject is simply some surf on the seashore, captured from a distance of not more than a foot. / The original picture is a Fuji Velvia 50 Iso medium format slide. Hope you enjoy it, thanks for dropping by. Paolo
I got sick of beakfaces and lizards momentarily and decided to paint some fishies – literally, goldfish…I’ve applied patches of gold leaf to their little heads. Despite being distracted by Eurovision I managed to finish it this weekend!! This one will probably be at Brunswick St Gallery in their small works show, June 6th. About 20×20cm, watercolour, chalk pastel etc on canvas. These enlargements are bigger than life size:

Lithuania, Klaipeda region, Curonian spit / THIS SERIES FROM / August 14-16, 2009 : morning/day/evening/night CLICK FOR COMMENTS / / at First Things / / ! The Curonian Lagoon (or Bay, Gulf; Russian: Kуршский залив, Lithuanian: Kuršių Marios, Polish: Zalew Kuroński, German: Kurisches Haff) is separated from the Baltic Sea by the Curonian Spit. / In the 13th century, the area around the lagoon was part of the ancestral lands of the Curonians and Old Prussian people. Later it bordered the historical region of Lithuania Minor. At the northern end of the Spit, there is a passage to the Baltic Sea, and the place was chosen by the Teutonic Knights in 1252 to found Memelburg castle and the city of Memel. The town is officially called Klaipėda since 1923 when the Memel Territory was separated from the German Empire. / As the new Interwar border, the river that flows into the Curonian Lagoon near Rusnė (German: Ruß) was chosen. The river’s lower 120km in Germany were called die Memel by Germans, while the upper part located in Lithuania was known as Nemunas River. The border also separated the peninsula near the small holiday resort of Nida, Lithuania (German: Nidden); the southern part of the Spit and the Lagoon remained in Germany until 1945. / This border remains today, as after World War II, the southern end of the Spit and the German area south of the river, the part of East Prussia with the town Königsberg located in Sambia, became part an exclave of Russia called Kaliningrad Oblast.
