This is a mixture of watercolour and pastel and is of the Wansbeck, a local river where we spent most of our childhood – a time of wartime restrictions and no home entertainment beyond board games. In those days we fished for food rather than sport. Regardless, it was great fun.

A pair of anglers are fishing from a boat on a misty lake.

These two dedicated and undaunted rock fishermen were photographed from Tacking Point, at Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia, on a sunny winter afternoon. The swell was perfect for this kind of break and the anglers were in good position to be on intersecting “Rule of Thirds” lines for a good composition. The break was way more than I had hoped for and the winter afternoon light was magic. Camera: Fuji S9600; RAW; Aperture Priority; f/8; 1/320sec; 39mm; WB Daylight; ISO 80; Hand held. / Processing: S7RAW & Photoshop CS. Enjoy! FISHIN’ / (Click the links!) A random drawing that a friend of mine wanted me to come up with… of course, with an example, but changed quite a bit, giving it my own style and color – edited with photoshop too as well. This would make a great T-shirt!

This pair of junior anglers, making a great candid silhouette was photographed from the Town Green beside the Hastings River in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia, on a late autumn evening. Sometimes I wish boaters who come out early, could just launch their boats without disturbing the peace while they’re at it. But you can’t help but laugh at how clumsy some of them are just trying to clear the launch…..LOL

This watercolor painting was inspired after taking my wife fishing. It was a real mystery to me how I stood there after a couple of hours of fishing with shrimp (our bait) stuck all over my cut off jeans and fish goop all over my t-shirt while she on the overhand, in her well coordinated outfit, gold hoop earrings, makeup, and painted nails, looked as through she could head straight down a fashion runway at any minute. Just to add insult to injury, I think she was even catching more fish than I was. How is that possible?

A trout fisherman perseveres with the weather on the River Orchy, Glen Orchy, Scotland Nominated for the “Pay It Forward” group by: Ginger Barritt Ginger said, of this work: / “It is a moody, powerful, beautiful piece. To me it holds so many contrasts…powerful, wild beauty of the stream against the serenty of being solitary and doing a simple thing such as fishing ….the hugeness of the area and the smallness of the fisherman….not to mention the contrasts of rocks, water, green, and broody sky…It all comes together to make it one of my favorite pieces to stare at over and over again…It gives me a feeling of belonging, and of being overwhelmed at how small each of us are”
