I feel sharks are peaceful by nature and being over fished, killed by nets, and by finning ( fishermen take all the fins of of the shark and throw the shark back into the water alive and unable to swim, there are no regulatons on this activity). You are more likely to be hit by lightning then to be bit by a shark. Sharks usually only bite because they mistake humans for their favorite food the seal. If people don’t help the shark they will be come exstinct in the near future. I feel they are very graceful creatures and should be protected. Please go to / Sharkwater to find out more on sharks and how they are being mistreated. Half of the mark up amount will go to seashepherd to help to preserve this glaceful creature. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / I painted this black tip reaf shark in acrylic on canvas / Animals / Birds / Drawings / Flowers / Water / Holiday / Paintings / Sunsets / Autumn

The whale shark, Rhincodon typus, is a slow filter feeding shark that is the largest living fish species. It can grow up to 12.2 m. (40 ft.) in length and can weigh up to 13.6 metric tonnes (15 short tons). This distinctively-marked shark is the only member of its genus Rhincodon and its family, Rhincodontidae (called Rhinodontes before 1984), which is grouped into the subclass Elasmobranchii in the class Chondrichthyes. The shark is found in tropical and warm oceans and lives in the open sea. The species is believed to have originated about 60 million years ago.
