  • This spikey critter is a puffer fish, but more correctly known as a globe fish. They are very common in the waters of Eastern and Southern Australia. Designed to deter predation from other fish, they also puff up their spikes like this when they are annoyed by marauding scuba divers.

  • Clown fish peeping from it’s anemone / View my underwater collection here Take a look at my other photos /

  • A coral goby sitting on a large brain coral. An example of my underwater macro photography.

  • Brightly coloured coral polyps Nikon D200 / 105mm VR macro

  • I quite like the patterns from the white coral on the black background with the little fish (goby) breaking up the whole scene

  • Clown fish use the stinging anemones for protection from predators. When I got a little too close for comfort, this guy ducked back in under cover.

  • This Newdibranch was tucked away under one of the Faroud’s life boat cranes( on Malta’s south west coast). A difficult one to get as i had to contort myself into a bit of a wired possition lol, and in a drysuit that is not easy.

  • A school of fish I photographed on a dive in Indonesia

  • Anemone fish among tentacles. Taken in Komodo, Indonesia

  • Looking up from 30m towards the sun, you can see divers ascending the wall to the boat. This beautiful temperate reef at Bowen Island has a series of vertical walls, covered in colourful sponges and bryzoa. The sandy bottom at around 35m is a foavourite gathering place for Port Jackson sharks. Jervis Bay Marine Park, Australia

  • A weedy sea dragon hiding out in the sea grass near Flinders Pier – south of Melbourne

  • This female Ornate cowfish (Arcana ornate) was lovely enough to pose front on for me on a recent dive under Flinder’s pier. She was eye balling me. It was just like she was waiting for the right moment to land a big kiss right on the front of my lens . The white striped markings across her face are my favorite aspect to this image.

  • macro shot of two tiny pygmy seahorses taken at simon’s reef off of the island of Gili Air Lombok Indonesia. these are amazing critters and are very small maybe 10-15mm .
