  • The scenic lighthouse at Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada.

  • Photograph of my favourite places to camp Town of 1770 Queensland / Olympus C750uz / f/4 / 1/250iso-50 / 6mm /

  • A collage I created of some Newfoundland shots that I took. / PEOPLE

  • Umhlanga lighthouse, Kwa-zulu Natal, RSA The B&W better suits the mood and actual conditions at the time – approaching dusk on a day with light drizzle and mist which didn’t deter the fisherman at all. B&W conversion using a technique I read about in a magazine. Instead of doing a straight desaturation, copy each channel of RGB and adjust the opacity which gives far better control of the finished result. Regards, Mike

  • This was taken at Cape Spear in Newfoundland. I was there on holiday this summer visiting my brother

  • Lighthouse at Umhlanga rocks, Kwa-zulu Natal, South Africa… While still playing around with the conversion (copying each channel of RGB and then adjusting the opacity of each), I ended up with this version. I feel this better portrays the mood and misty conditions at the time… Regards, Mike

  • This lighthouse sits on a beach close to the southernmost tip of India. A place where the world’s 3 great oceans meet. The land is some of the most fertile and abundant in the country. The literacy rate is one of the highest at 97%. I often used to watch the daily morning catch. As I watched the ladies ferrying their loads of fish, I mused about how often we can be consumed by the burdens of life, the mundane and well worn paths of routine that we tread. If we could but stop, if only for a moment, and see the beauty and sources of light that inhabit our world around us.

  • Lighthouse on the west coast of Cumbria. D70

  • Taken on a deep sea fishing extravaganza off the coast at Albany, WA. There is a light house built decades ago on the Island which would have mean’t hard work at the time I’m sure. It was a rough day out there which I loved, here the seas were less choppy sheltered by the Island. Catch of the day was a 20 Kilo King fish (by me) who nearly fell off the other side of the boat when it emerged with help from the skipper. The skipper also won the catch as I was heading up to Perth the same day. Thank you for looking :D

  • “Barnegat Lighthouse” Painting of Old Barney in Barnegat Light, New Jersey .

  • I was seldom able to see an opportunity until it had ceased to be one. Mark Twain (1835 –1910)

  • Another in the Masters series. / This is the centre part of a long panoramic watercolour. By Thomas Bush Hardy, 1895. I’ve moved some of the boats to be closer together, as my version is a small painting, 10×7 inches, on rough Bockingford tinted cream paper, 140lb. I will be painting the full length seascape in the future.

  • The old lighthouse in Newhaven Harbour, Edinburgh at sunset. This image truly inspires me because it is taken from my favourite spot in the world – the harbour wall of Newhaven Harbour – at my favourite time of day, sunset. When the weather is nice, I like to come here with a bottle of rose, a fish supper or simply with my camera to enjoy the light, the fresh air and the bobbing of the boats in the water. When it’s cold and windy it’s perfect to get rid of a foul mood.

  • My version of a Thomas Bush Hardy (1842-97). From an 1895 watercolour of Ramsgate Harbour. A panoramic shaped painting, 23” x 10”. / Hand-made, 140lb rough paper. Over 20 hours work. Multiple layers of semi-transparent and opaque watercolour, and white zinc gouache for highlights. Viewing in larger size is necessary.

  • Location: Guernsey, UK Camera: Canon EOS 400D / A f/13 / SS 1/100s / ISO 100 Used Adobe Elements 7.0 to creat vignetting effect and desaturate the image. Then I selected the Lighthouse and increased the Sharpness and Levels. Comments and feedback much appreciated. I am going through quite an experimental and therefore uncertain phase!

  • This large oil painting of Pelican Bay is an inspiration from my heart and soul. I lived on my 36’ Columbia all alone for many years and sailed into Mexico from San Diego. I now live on the Central Coast of California where Pelican’s flock. The warm, welcome, glorious, feelings of the moon at sunset, old boats, and small harbors thrill all my senses. My hope is that viewers of this painting also experience the warm fuzzies that accompany nostalgic beauty.

  • The visibility was pretty poor during the dive (you’ll notice a small snowstorm in the background if you view the image large), but these sad guys were fairly cooperative today. :-) / / Schooling Threadfin Pearl Perches at Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia Equipment: CANON 5D, SIGMA 15mm f2.8 EX DG, IKELITE Housing, 2x IKELITE DS125 Strobes More ‘Underwater Rush Hours’: / © aabz-imaging / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
