When I woke up before dawn and found myself wondering along the shore with a camera a tripod, this was precisely the image I was after. The boat reminded me of the frailties of our existence, all alone, stranded at low tide, unable to float around with any dignity with the ominous clouds closing in on it’s steel hull. Yet it stood proud and tall, living each day as it came at the mercy of nature and the elements around it.

Oil painting / / Passion…..the town of 1770 is magical, where else can you camp right next to the beach,under palms beautiful fishing swiming scuba diving sailing pelicans and squabling seagulls waiting for a hand out, trips over to see the famous light house,wonderful sunsets sitting on the sand with light brezes wafting over the sand, flying possums over head and to top it off my favouite pastime painting in thick yummy paint out in the fresh air on site. Ever dreamed of sneaking away to a quiet, tranquil spot…lush vegetation, hearing the sounds of the forest and spending the day relaxing, reading a good book and having the most yummy picnic? / Well here is a little oasis I created. It looks a lot like an area of New Zealand called the Marlborough Sounds. What childhood memories are made of. The old bach (or crib)...simple holiday home with comfortable but basic living conditions. Getting away from the rat race.

This little boat sways from side to side in the tides of the day … the owner is a fisherman and restaurant owner and a darned fine cook!! I love the beach-front Taverna where this pretty little boat is at home in the shallows … the food is scrumptious and fresh and reasonably priced. They love it if you order Greek and if you need some help in finding your way through the Greek options on the menu, they are more than happy to explain and make suggestions and guide you to a choice that will delight and satisfy! ... the name of the Taverna? chuckles ... no idea! Look out for the boat moored at the beach!! You can’t mistake the place! Featured in Going Coastal in June 2009 … thank you so, so much! What an honour and delight!!

Fueled by a dose of holiday spirit and tempered by a cool pinch of irony, sunny Central Florida is home to one of the nation’s most spectacular (and unusual) art attractions, now in its seventh year. Who says the holidays in Florida are all about sunshine and palm trees, anyway? Inside a simulated winter environment, guests are immersed in a whimsical wonderland of larger-than-life, three-dimensional hand-carved ice monuments and scenes, including fantastic frozen creations, slippery ice speed slides, and heart-warming holiday vistas. As for the chill, ICE! is kept at a frigid 9 degrees Fahrenheit. This year, ICE! will take guests on a trip to the North Pole. And, tag along on Santa’s journey, beginning with an encounter with Old Man Winter, through an arctic forest, and into the middle of a Christmas Carnival, complete with a life-size carousel! Next, chill-seekers will be able to explore Santa’s ornament room, climb onto his oversized knee (an unusual photo op!), and watch as he and reindeer take flight. The attraction’s signature scene—a life-size Nativity carved completely of crystal-clear ice—has been described as one of the most breathtaking depictions of the birth of Christ. Dramatic lighting and a stirring narrative track give guests an opportunity to pause and reflect on the story behind the season. The award-winning Kissimmee attraction is carved by a team of 40 artisans from Harbin, China. The talented artisans spend more than a month in Kissimmee creating this one-of-a-kind attraction. Harbin is best known for its annual International Ice and Snow Festival, where more than 2,000 sculptors annually carve a 100-acre walk-through ice park, using ice from the nearby Songhua River. ICE! is open daily from November 14, 2009 – January 3, 2010, including holidays.
