Pious and Mole's Misadventure in Rattown Part the First
by DannyPious and Mole’s Misadventure in Rattown Part the First / A plunge into comic madness
This is a very old idea that has been kicking around for years I just wasn’t sure how to put it together. So after getting some feed back from some people whose opinion I respect I decided to give it a kick in the guts and see if I could bring some life to it. The whole idea was to start sweet and innocent and devolve into chaos, something I feel I achieved. This was originally a draft I did so my brother could illustrate, that never eventuated which I have written about before here / and here / One of the reasons I first joined the Bubble was with hopeful possibilities of teaming up with cartoonists and maybe writing, I got side tracked along the way. Though I must admit one of the first people I came into contact with was the brilliant Scott Robinson and we did work together and produced this. Conditioning Writing for comics or for someone else to draw for you is a totally different experience than writing a story. The actions are dictated by the pictures, while I tend to draw or even cut and paste bits of paper to convey what I want and more often than not the artist will interprets it another way and 99.9% of the time it’s for the better and sometimes changes the course and structure of the story. This story never got that far so I just patched it together as best I could. The Rat Characters are my Brother Joe’s creation and will always be in my mind the funniest, grossest and immoral comic figures ever. The quaint creatures at the start are based on Kenneth Grahame‘s book The Wind In The Willows. The original were more based on Beatrix Potter characters. They were scanned , reworked, chopped, recoloured and basically butchered from a mass produced abridged soft cover children’s book version of Wind In The Willows. The artist’s name is Eileen Fitzpatrick Berry who basically redrew the works of EH Shepard the man also responsible for the drawings of AA Milne’s Winnie The Pooh/Christopher Robin series. This story is really just a tribute to cartoon, comic, comix, illustrations and drawings through the years but ultimately my love for American Underground commix from the 1960s and 70s. It also allows me to indulge in my favourite pass time off taking the piss out of things. One day it would be nice to get individual artists to each do one page in their own style and make a real super collaboration out of it.

This poem is about my first love, which is well and truly lost. / From one writer to another…de nobis fabula narratur. To me, this truly encapsulates life, or the ‘living planet’, because in my opinion, nothing proves that we are alive more than love and pain, and this poem is an expression of that. Enjoy.

“Daintree Daughters” - First Paragraphs
by adgrayThe blinding brightness of such a bleached out landscape in that sparkling, crystal clear air. This freshness, this peace, this amazing e…
Dear Reader, / Thank you. My novel “Daintree Daughters” is divided into focus stories from each family member. At the beginning of these “Books” I had an overwhelming urge to write a descriptive prose. I do not know where these pieces came from or why. It was not contrived just written in the pursuit of an indulgent whim. It was only after that I realised each prose held the essence of the ensuing story and all together can be a story in itself, a collection of prose at the very least. I hope you enjoy my work and come to realise that you won’t know the whole story until you have heard all the tales. / Enjoy! ~ adgray

Writing Again for the First Time
by G. Merrick JusticeThe rebirth of the human spirit arrived as only blessings know how – unexpectedly and under the cover of tragedy.
Honestly, what could I say… oh, wait… perhaps of minor note, I wrote this originally by hand on a 16 hour car ride to Rehab in New York State two years ago. The rehab did nothing for me, but I got this and some pen-pals out of it (I shortly after returning home found the strength within myself to stop abusing alcohol… after four years of hell through counselors, detoxes, rehabs, and AA, I found I had all the answers I needed to heal myself to begin with… self-respect, love for those who loved me, and a drive to create something better than I could ever be.)

Indeterminacy 326 (My Green Friend Liz)
by indeterminacyYou may like her / She won’t bite / You may like her / late at night !
A humerous (and slightly erotic) adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s “Green Eggs and Ham” transplanted into the repulsions and attractions of first love. This story was originally posted at indeterminacy.blogspot.com, a site featuring “one minute short stories” inspired by found photos. Here is the found photo which served as the catalyst for the story: / / Disclaimer: This photo is not my work, and is therefore also not for sale.
