Those of you who care, may have noticed that I have barely been uploading anything recently, this is due to a total lack of inspiration from the world of digital photography. Luckily there is a man in the office, who goes by the name of James who is equally old school, cynical and at least as much of a luddite, if not more so. So he lent me his developing equipment, chemicals and all, and told me to ‘do it properly’. So I did. Stuck some B&W Kodak 400 Tri-X in my medium format Holga and some of the same in my 35mm Hanimex and went and shot and hand developed a few rolls. Started scanning them in this evening and thought I’d post the first one up. / Suddenly I’m excited by the medium again, and I’m having fun again. Here’s a shot I took of my lady against a mirror in her favourite spotted dress, she is quite a big fan of spots you see. James, good work fella, I owe you a Mountain Goat.

First snow did come last night (19.11.2008), so thats all for climatic change so far. :)
Oh how I wish I could see such a sight! I live in the desert and it rarely snows here. Each year, as an act of longing I often draw a snowy winter scene. Merry Christmas! :snowflake: :snowflake: :snowflake: :snowflake: :snowflake: / Materials- watercolor, graphite / © Shannon Luedke

This old wagon is located in the settlement area of Cades Cove located in the Great Smoky Mountains. I was lucky enough to be hanging out with Lori Walton and her husband Don, just walking around, absorbing the moment, as people shuffled by. I shot this in sepia because I wanted to give the feel I felt as I was looking at it. Something about the aroma of the old wood along w/ the shed, as you inhale it, sends you back to a time when it was at it’s highest peak, working the fields, delivering goods and transporting the family. So shooting it in sepia was the only way I could really portray the feeling I get everytime I go to this area. I shot this in Sepia Mode set on my camera / Was in SS priority / SS at 1/125 / Fstop at F8 / ISO at 400 / Focal Length at 17mm / Exposure Comp at 0
this is my new buddy….brutus :) / just got him last night (tax day is a hell of a time to get a new pet) lol / its been 9yrs since i have had a pet, and i sure have missed having one. but when i wasnt able to spend the time with one due to very long hours at work, or at one point worry about having to feed it, it just wasnt time yet. / so this little guy is now in my life. / today we spent the day at cades cove. his first but not last time going into the cove (have to break him in right) :) / what better way to bond with your new “kid” then take them out into the park, with their blanket and toys, your camera gear and a small cooler and just hang out in the field on top of a hill? / so meet brutus :) / he’s right at 6weeks old, a little chihuahua pup / some might wonder why i came up with the name brutus. / it was to prove a point about stereotyping a name. when i mention the name “brutus”, most will think of some stocky big dog, kind of like a boxer or a pit. when they meet my brutus, they will see alittle rambunctious little pup :) photographing him was fun. had to lay on the ground to get to his level, would set him back so i could get a shot. but each time id say his name, or he heard the click of the camera..here he come at me! lol everynow n then he would look at me like why the hell you keep moving me back when i come to you? lol / in time as i work with him, i plan on having all sorts of shots :) / This shot is with him attacking one of his tigers Shot this in SS mode / SS set at 1/640 (had to compensate for hand holding, him constantly moving and the mid day lighting) / ISO set at 100 / Focal length at 44mm / Exposure comp at -0.7 / F-stop at 5.6

This is my friend’s daughter at her 2nd birthday party. Despite the glasses she wears, she is actually blind – although there is hope that her optic nerves are continuing to develop and that she might someday have minimal vision. To help aid in the “seeing” process, my friend outfitted her daughter, Gia with these adorable glasses and Gia spent most of her party avoiding her guests and seemed content to walk aimlessly around the park unassisted. In between her meanderings and terrible two moments, I managed to get off a few shots of her before she turned and wandered away in a new direction.
