This was my 3 year old daughters first time playing in the rain. It was so amazing to watch her delight . I think we can all relate to tilting our faces up towards the the sky, trying to catch the rain as it falls on our cheeks. FOR PAY IT FORWARD: “Nominated by- Danae Leach” / “what she wrote“ “This is one of my most faves. I love children so much and their innocence, pure happiness and complete faith in all things good and magical. I remember when I used to be little and I loved being out in the summer rains”

Acrylic and pastel on illustration paper. (1995) This is truly the first tree I ever painted, the need to paint and create was something brewing so strongly inside I had to do something about it. Yet my resources were very limited, I grabbed the only paint I had any access to, a can of my father’s black spray paint, I sprayed it into the lid of the can and used the only paintbrush I owned a cheep nylon brush from a water color kit and created. I then finished my work with the only two pastels I owned brown and black. / Necessity is the mother of invention, or maybe it’s that there is more than one way to skin a cat. (Sorry cat lovers) At any rate I grew up in a home with very few luxuries but I did have a passion to create, always, I had to feed the creativity. So this is a very special piece to me and I hope to you as well. First Tree is officially published in Artists of West First Tree was Featured in Lifestyles Magazine as part of an article about the Artists of the West coffee table book. I am also honored to announce my painting First Tree was a part of the Rialto Towers two week art exhibit in Melbourne, Australia in of July 2007 For commissioned work you can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios*
It is fascinating to see the different colours at the moment here in the centre of the Netherlands. While some trees already show their full autumnal beauty, others still keep very much their green appearance. But on this beautiful beech-tree lane near Maartensdijk, autumn is clearly on its way. First love, the love that clings to your heart forever, no matter how much pain it has caused, no matter how many tears have fallen, first love will never leave my soul. by Unknown /
An early morning seascape from my neighbouring town of Paignton as the sun was rising and giving a pleasing warm glow to the old pier. I am always fascinated at how gulls seem to settle down during a sunrise or sunset, there were dozens in flight a few minutes before I took this shot and as the sun broke through, all but a few had settled down on the roof of the pier buildings, adding to that eerie calm of the sunrise. Nikon D100 / 38mm / F7.1 for 1/200sec.
OK… I’m coming out of the closet…. I have a confession to make…. I bought a macro lens (Tamron 90mm Macro). As somebody that considers themselves a serious landscape photographer I feel like I have donned an anorak and now I’m a train spotter. I don’t know why, but I have never been overly interested in macro photography before ,but all of a sudden I felt the urge to try my creativity on a much smaller scale. You won’t be seeing any flowers or insects from me, but I will be trying to bring some of the principles of large scale lighting and composition to the macro world. I have to admit though that I feel very clumsy operating in the macro world where depth of field is measured in millimeters when I’m used to sometimes having infinite depth of field. This is the first of a few exercises that I have set myself to try to understand the world of macro.

Well been away from RB for a week but will catch up with all the work I’ve missed from you all. I took this shot last night and got frost nip in the process, so my finger tips all felt like they had been smashed with a hammer, can still feel it a bit today, I’ve already been told off for not wearing gloves ;-) / It was really beautiful and worth a little pain. Taken on Mt Wellington facing west to distant mountain ranges.
Sometimes we are lucky to bear witness to some of life’s golden moments; A baby’s first steps, a proposal, a reuninon between friends… or a child’s first touch of snow. This was their moment – hopefully one of many. And I was lucky enough to be at the right place, at the right time, to capture that moment. Lady luck must’ve smiled to me on that day.
As I crawled from my tent with blurred eyes, I could see that the sun was going to rise perfectly behind Alau Island. This image was unplanned, yet a perfectly wonderful stroke of luck.
