My feet are frozen and my fingers are so stiff that I keep dropping my little wireless shutter release in the crackling snow. It’s seems to me that it’s getting colder by the minute, but we are here to make photos of the Christmas shopping atmosphere, and photos I will do! My sister is shivering, thinking of getting inside somewhere for a cup of hot coffee, but stopping at every ten steps to make just another shot… Now I’m almost finished with this fireplace shot, my teeth are chattering, and in just a few seconds, I’ll be able to lift my hands close to the fire and blissfully warm my frozen digits. My sister is dragging me toward the closest coffee shop, and as soon as we step in, we are told that it is now past closing time… Drat! After a few minutes we finally find another one, still open, where we thaw out a bit before going back to shoot some more, until we’re out of battery power. This is what I call a fantastic night! I needed to draw something for Christmas, since I have never actually drawn something in this theme. I found and old Victorian photo of this adorable little one and it was perfect. 8×10.5 / Pencil.

I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you all for your continued support, your comments, suggestions and feedback, I REALLY do appreciate the time you spent looking at my work. I will be out of the loop for the next few days, have a safe and happy holiday with your family and friends. Image is off of a small Xmas tree in front of my fireplace. Reflections are of same tree, in the open glass fireplace door. One reflection has been “added” to equal out the scene a bit. Ran this through the Redfield Fractalius plugin.

These flowers were sitting on my Father-In-Law’s mantel and I couldn’t resist painting them. I have no idea what type they are as they are artificial but I really liked them. I tried to make the shadowing appear as if it were created by late afternoon sun shining through the window. The piece is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The coarse paper and heavily granulated paints help to add character to this piece. The original piece is 5”x7” in size. Featured in Fabulous Flowers group in August 2009. /

Molly was enjoying the warmth of the fireplace, however, I wanted to photograph her face. So, I kept moving the ottoman so eventually I could get the capture. I really didn’t think she would stay still, but I guess she was determined to stay comfortable. / /
