There’s nifty Firefox extension called Greasemonkey that lets you customize the way a web page displays using small bits of JavaScript. Hundreds of scripts, for a wide variety of popular sites, are already available at http://userscripts.org , and now there’s one for redbubble. Based on a script for displaying large versions of thumbnails on facebook, I’ve created one that shows large image previews of art and clothing when hovering over most thumbnails and many links on redbubble.com. To give it a whirl, install Firefox (as if you haven’t already), install Greasemonkey (requires browser restart), then install my script (just click on it and Greasemonkey should pick it up) Then when you load a page, hover over a thumbnail or art/clothing link and gasp in amazement at the amount of time you’ve saved not clicking through (which you can still do of course). I got addicted to it very quickly, so much so that I immediately missed it when using another computer. This is a first release and may have a quirk or 3. Comments/feedback welcome here. Update 04JAN08: Fixed the bugs that Xavier reported, writing now works, and the hover disappears when it should. To update, install it again at the link above.

Time for another Greasemonkey hack. This one replaces the existing text formatting hint you get when making comments (the text that pops out when you click on the “Show text formatting help:” link below the comment box). Instead of the rather small bit of help you get webgrrl’s rather handy text formatting cheat sheet. See over here for more details.

  • Inspired by this thread I’ve knocked up a quick Greasemonkey hack that adds a Friends of RedBubble forum link the the quick links bar in mybubble. This, of course, is only useful to people who use Firefox, have Greasemonkey installed, and who are a member of the FoRB group. If that’s you and this sounds useful then pop over here to get a copy.

  • First Stab at a Greasemonkey Script

Following in the footsteps of Dave Pearson ( RB Profile Here ), I have produced my own Greasemonkey hack attempt. This script implements a visual Textile helper called markItUp on the RedBubble site, and places the helper above all textareas. Installation If you are interested in trying the script, you need to be running Firefox for starters, and you need to install the Greasemonkey addon . Once you have done this, you can fetch the Greasemonkey script from here . If you do try it, please be sure to notify me of any bugs you find. History 0.2 Now uses unpacked jQuery code for compatibility with FF2 / 0.1 First Release

There are so many tips’n’tricks, tutorials, enhancements and various other interesting articles listed around Redbubble. I’ve decided it is time to revitalise the articles I have written. / Why? Because so many writers are long-winded, overly-descriptive and their instructions are near impossible to navigate. I believe my documents cover the many issues necessary to run a successful redbubble gallery, allowing artists to successfully present their portfolio to all clientele. Sending to all groups that allow Journal entries also :)) I have just stumble across this little plugin for Mozilla Firefox and was thinking that some may find this interesting to know. I am almost certain that there is a plugin for Internet Explorer also. Quoted from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8922 / TinEye is a reverse image search engine. The plugin adds a right-click menu item that allows you to search for an image to find out where it came from, how it is being used, if modified versions of the image exist, or to find higher resolution versions. Notice the 2 most important parts above that I have highlighted in Bold Now, I know that most will have checked/ticked the option “Discourage people from right-clicking or saving my images by placing a transparent image over the top of them”. / For a few minutes, you can uncheck this option whilst you check if any of your images are being used elsewhere on the big WWW. PLEASE REMEMBER – Your images on the Internet are “never” safe from being stolen, not even from RedBubble. I am actual proof of this as only about a month or so ago, someone in a group (not on RedBubble, don’t panic) from Yahoo actually “proved a point” to me that my images were NOT safe on RedBubble and they actually proved it to me by attaching it to an email. For sure, it was mine. RedBubble was then, the only placed it could have come from !! / Please don’t read this wrong, I am not putting RB down in any way at all, I LOVE RedBubble as much as the next person. I am just letting you know that your images/artworks/photographs are “never” safe. / He had found out by the “keywords” that I was using and a little magic using some HTML knowledge to grab a larger version and get around the “clear.gif” image thing. / I was infact pretty miffed at this at the time, BUT in the long run, if it wasn’t registered to me, what could I prove ??? Just make sure that you add your name/copyrights to the EXIF data through your editing application. This will help :))) Which, I might add, is something that I still have to remember to do LOL Go to – http://www.tineye.com/plugin for both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browser plugins Anyhow, I hope this comes in useful for some
