  • A composite of an airshow picture and a recent harvest moon. I don’t normally do composites but I guess a change is as good as a rest. LOL. I’d like to do a sacred ibis against that moon – I have one so i’ll try that next. Let me know what you think when/if you view this one. You might like to compare this one to my other – Sacred Night http://www.redbubble.com/people/lightsmith/art/183121-1-sacred-night Creation Information

  • ORIGINAL FOR SALE $450 plus P&H Out of the ashes… Symbolic of so many things, but personally? I painted this mandala during a time in my life when my whole world was in the process of being torn apart. Fires, earthquakes, neighbours from hell, troubled teenagers, financial crises, health concerns – my external reality was in chaos. And internally? I had been shaken to the core by the knowledge that age had not imparted much wisdom as far as love was concerned. I was still naive, gullible, vulnerable and very much open to belief and trust. And so, almost three years after my late partner killed himself, I opened my heart to this naive trust and allowed myself to be hurt again. And thus the phoenixes arise in my life. This ability I have to love, to believe, to trust, to be nonjudgmental and accepting – that is a gift few people have. And so I choose to give it air, let it breathe, let it burn like a fire. And I will arise out of the ashes of my life to start anew. Painted to the song: The Blessing (My good friend Sammy Horner and the Electrics – thank you!) Marg Thomson / 2009

  • A phoenix is a mythical firebird with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet symbolizing rebirth. This artwork is a mixed media creation with gold acrylic paint, embossed decorative paper, oil pastels, woodless colored pencils, marker pens, paint pens and black sharpie on Canson paper. Original measures about 12.5×19 inches. This scan does not really do the picture justice as it does not pick up the metallic golds used throughout the image.
