We are surrounded by fires in every direction, though none are real close……probably the closest is now about 10 miles away……..some smaller ones have been contained and a few even put out entirely, only to have new ones begin………there is an inversion layer which is keeping the smoke and ash extremely low….this is the very worst I have seen it here in thirty-five years. The air quality is unbearable…………WE NEED RAIN! The beautiful lightning storm we had on Saturday touched off one hundred and thirty four fires….there is actually more than that burning at this time……..you can check on the status by going to www.redding.com that is our local newspaper…….this image was taken yesterday morning at 6:11………it never got any better today June 25, 2008. This image is untouched, right out of the camera. / ____ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission.
