This is my entry for the Photoshop Creative competition / Digital Mixed Media. Mostly done in Photoshop CS2. A touch of Corel Painter and Apophysis 2.0. This image is composed of digital painting, a few fractals, and several photographs added for texture. I hope you all like it because I’ve been working on it for most of this week :). / This is the first I’ve completed in a new series: The Elijah Series. This image represents the chariot of fire. You can read about it here: 2 Kings 2:7-12. There is so much going on in this image so I’ll help you out: The Chariot driven by some sort of Angelic being is in the center of the image while the horses of fire are at the bottom, very front of the image. The blazing light of Heaven is in the very back. Basically, the sky has opened up and the Chariot of Fire is coming down from Heaven to separate Elisha and Elijah. The whirlwind that takes Elijah up into Heaven will be the next image I do in this series. Thank you for looking!

Sometimes there is humanity within abstraction. I’m not sure the proper way to put it, but this, of all my art, bears my humanity. It may seem odd that I consider this myself as other… but the it no rule dictating if other must be human, fantastical, or pure energy upon paper. I consider this to be myself, simply ripped apart and dug into deeply. / This may look like nothing, but it actually was one of the most intensive experiences I’ve had in the visual arts. I find a bit of direction and even peace in it, though its colors are those of anger and melancholy. I chose to post it because I believe in the soul of a work of art, and know for sure that souls, those not inborn, must develop by rubbing off of another through regular interaction – something can be the most magnificent picture/painting in the world, but it is as empty as laser-pigment on bleached printer paper if it came in a flash… likewise the worst image imaginable may have a deepness to shame the ocean if it was danced with for weeks, months, years… there is notable merit in beauty alone, sure, but a soul is often required to speak freely to others.

I’m proud of this painting because it was such a huge / project to me but..In the end ..the result was very pleasing… I had painted my vision and Ideas about the 4 elements…and it worked..It looked great!! / I will sell this painting because I do need the money , we all want to make a living from what we do best..don’t we..? we have to survive in what way we can and I can’t hang onto all of my paintings forever…I can hang onto some though. If you are interested in this painting..the best and safest way is me to take it off the wooden stretcher and then you have to get it restretched at your end. / it’s in good condition , there is an indentation in the painting at one end of the canvas.. / but this can be fixed in the restretching. Watercolor and pencil on illustration board, / 15×20 / 2009 Related work: / The Waterman: Unio Mystica This is the second panel of The Waterman triptych. While the central panel represents the Christ as the macrocosm, the side panels are the microcosm, represented by the Four Elements and their manifestation in the physical world. Ignis Aeris is the yang pillar, the elements Fire and Air. Volatile and oriented upward, these elements are connected to the realms of the abstract thinking and intuition. Fire is the energy, passion and primeval instincts, that need to be balanced by the intellect (Air) in order to manifest in a most constructive way. The certainty of the Divine, that comes from the heart and from a primal knowledge, needs to be shaped by the intellect in order to become less aggressive and to expand (the butterflies rising from the fire and flying upward). Only through a perfect combination of faith and reason we can access the Divine and understand Its Laws. At the basis of the picture, handling the creative power of Fire, we see the Magician of the Tarot, which I represented wearing the skin of Nemean Lion, just like Greek hero Herakles. He represents the first step in the Hero’s Journey, or that path that each one of us need to find out and go through in order to become Whole with the Universe. The Magician is the one who uses his power of will (Fire) and mental skills (Air) in order to find his own path.

I have never seen this more true than my own life. As everyday I soften my thinking to better feeling thoughts I experience new vista’s to guide me towards that which I am becoming and that which I desire. Today has been such an easy day full of butterfly vibrations and lovely sounds and visions and YOU! xox

A very loose watercolour using minimal detail and bright colours for a group challenge, 20cm x 28cm on 300gsm canson paper. The main aim of this challenge is for a soft focus result with no hard edges. The sea was calling as the sun glowed / All lit up it was time for the show / Fire in the sky, my boat sailed on / Once in a lifetime to enjoy until gone…. by L.Callaghan Had to dig deep in the imagination for this one.

Soo I got alittle frustrated with all the smoke here in southern California, and noticed ash all over my patio….so decided to paint with it. / Just sad to see alll those trees and homes gone, and decided there must be some good somewhere from all this disaster and 2 lost firemen.
