  • The Chariot of Fire
    by StacyLee

    US$4.28–US$114.00

This is my entry for the Photoshop Creative competition / Digital Mixed Media. Mostly done in Photoshop CS2. A touch of Corel Painter and Apophysis 2.0. This image is composed of digital painting, a few fractals, and several photographs added for texture. I hope you all like it because I’ve been working on it for most of this week :). / This is the first I’ve completed in a new series: The Elijah Series. This image represents the chariot of fire. You can read about it here: 2 Kings 2:7-12. There is so much going on in this image so I’ll help you out: The Chariot driven by some sort of Angelic being is in the center of the image while the horses of fire are at the bottom, very front of the image. The blazing light of Heaven is in the very back. Basically, the sky has opened up and the Chariot of Fire is coming down from Heaven to separate Elisha and Elijah. The whirlwind that takes Elijah up into Heaven will be the next image I do in this series. Thank you for looking!

  • i am part of all that i have met, / yet all experience is an arch wherethro / gleans that untravelled world, / whose margins fade / forever and forever when i move. / excerpt from ‘Ulysses’ – Lord Alfred Tennyson

  • I’m nothing…I am because there’s the Sun…only then….I can be alive…So it’s the blessings of the Sun that we thrive on… Inspired by the ancient ways of Sun worship in the Hindu mythology and many religions worldwide.. This painting depicts the five elements, Earth / Water / Air / Sky and / Fire Oil-on-canvas / 36 X 24 inches This inspired poem is by a dear and a departed friend HAFIZ … I want both of us / To start talking about this Great Love As if You, I and the Sun were all married / And living in a tiny room. / Helping each other to cook, / Do the wash, / Weave and sew / Care for our beautiful / Animals. We all leave each morning / To labor on the earth’s field. / No one does not lift a great pack. I want both of us to start singing like two / Traveling minstrels / About this Extraordinary Existence / We Share, As If, You, I, and God were all married And living in / A Tiny / Room / Water melted from iced melted… / The lake of the new dreams.. / where the reflections of the love they share… / will get into the ear.. / travelling along the sun beams…. / down… there.. / into the profoundity. / Rosa (Beautiful picture… and wonderful poem….just tell your friend…)

  • Sometimes there is humanity within abstraction. I’m not sure the proper way to put it, but this, of all my art, bears my humanity. It may seem odd that I consider this myself as other… but the it no rule dictating if other must be human, fantastical, or pure energy upon paper. I consider this to be myself, simply ripped apart and dug into deeply. / This may look like nothing, but it actually was one of the most intensive experiences I’ve had in the visual arts. I find a bit of direction and even peace in it, though its colors are those of anger and melancholy. I chose to post it because I believe in the soul of a work of art, and know for sure that souls, those not inborn, must develop by rubbing off of another through regular interaction – something can be the most magnificent picture/painting in the world, but it is as empty as laser-pigment on bleached printer paper if it came in a flash… likewise the worst image imaginable may have a deepness to shame the ocean if it was danced with for weeks, months, years… there is notable merit in beauty alone, sure, but a soul is often required to speak freely to others.

  • This one is a bit older than some of the stuff I’ve put up here so far. It was done a couple of years ago for a book titled “The Big Coat.” (Not exactly my best writing.) Despite the story not exactly standing the test of time I think this piece still holds up fairly well. No? Okay, maybe not, but could you at least pretend that it’s fantastic? Pretty please? Pretty please with sugar on top? Pretty please with sugar and a fresh, crisp new fifty dollar bill on top?

  • Fires of September
    by Janis Zroback

    US$3.99–US$106.40

/ “Fires of September” is part of the Fall Landscape Series...one of my early sketches of unknown origin, turned into a new painting… Watercolour on Arches… This is for my great friend KJ who just now reminded me about the existence of this song…...it’s the theme from the movie “A Summer Place”... Try to remember the kind of September / When life was slow and oh, so mellow. / Try to remember the kind of September / When grass was green and grain was yellow. / Try to remember the kind of September / When you were a tender and callow fellow. / Try to remember, and if you remember, / Then follow. Try to remember when life was so tender / That no one wept except the willow. / Try to remember when life was so tender / That dreams were kept beside your pillow. / Try to remember when life was so tender / That love was an ember about to billow. / Try to remember, and if you remember, / Then follow. Deep in December, it’s nice to remember, / Although you know the snow will follow. / Deep in December, it’s nice to remember, / Without a hurt the heart is hollow. / Deep in December, it’s nice to remember, / The fire of September that made us mellow. / Deep in December, our hearts should remember / And follow. Listen to NANA and Harry…. / Or here by THE LETTERMEN /

  • Just Past Summer
    by linaji

    US$8.55–US$71.25

Just Past Summer It was a time you let go / And caught the wind / Absent a rudder to slice your way through / Just Past Summer, / You let go of wondering how to Love, / You did. / Colors / Blended into one voice / Truth / Beating swiftly / Like cream does to butter. / Just Past Summer, / A fire as big as a sunset / Was started, / Using all the dried up dreams / And the gutter remains. / Rich you said, / Smell the smoke, / Sacred release. / The ashes you spread out like a table / Serving doubt and loneliness / Featuring a cold vichyssoise that had / A hint of Hope. / This hint you said, / Will complement the rest, / Fear not. / Dessert was three layers of / Rich longing, / Covered with a double dark / Butter cream of Love. / Always Love / You said… / Then off you went, / To catch the boat with no rudder, / On a warm Chinook breeze / That took you to Just Past Summer.

  • Original, Hand Painted / Oil-on-canvas / 24 X 20 inches Thank you Robin Monroe for this loving gift; “Since this poem was written just for you in another time once upon a dream:) If you would like you can use it with one of your brilliant work of art since they are so full of Life, Love and Joy I think this section of the poem would go wonderful with one of your pieces. Let your love flow like the river… / Let it run wild and free…. / A promise that you can deliver… / Dreams are for you / Dreams are for me / Dreams can come true – Believe! Also, it would bring me joy and be such an honor to have my words associated with your beautiful Art….Robin:)” The Brent River…. While traveling, one can come across several intriguing places by chance… Sometimes you are not prepared enough or even carrying a camera to capture an image of the place that captivates you…but it leaves a deep impression in one’s memory which you can recollect…and I painted that memory…to the best I could recollect of that moment…this was one of those chance visits to the riverside in Greenford, England during one of my several walks…

  • Acrylic, marker, and paint pen on recycled metal sign / 12.5” x 16” / 2008 Nothing is separate from the web of Creation, everything is infused with Spirit and that essence radiates out to everything else. One strand connects to another, opposites merge to create a new element. This becomes That, Everything is Everything. A spider can hold the entire essence of fire and water, fire and water can make steam, new possibilities unfold but always hold the original spark of Divinity. Unique but Unified. A perfect center radiating forever outwards in an eternal web of Creative Spirit. Special thanks to Spider, who showed up unexpectedly in this painting and is my creative Ally.

  • Asset Protection
    by kimbaross

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Oil Painting inspired by my days as a volunteer firefighter. Something we face every Summer in Australia. In some areas you can live in constant fear of the threat of fire. Not sure if I’ve finished this one yet, but hey, I’ll give it a run. Two of the prime objectives of a fire fighting organisation is to protect life and protect property. Here the characters are endeavouring to do both without a thought that they are putting their own lives at risk.

  • The transcendental art of fire dancing, combined with a backdrop of stark, urban-industrial desolation. / The background represents the state of one’s life (like the inside of their mind) and the subject twirling fire represents the transmuting of this apathy of existence into the realization that there is so much more to life and the Universe than what is going on in their head.
