This photo-manipulation was created for the 2008 “Out of the Ashes” Exhibition at Fine Art Gallery, Kangaroo Island. An exhibition that featured artworks of Kangaroo Island artists after the devastating bush fires of Dec 2007 that ravaged the island for 10 days. The exhibition showcased images about the event and also about the after effects, from emotional states of people affected, to regeneration of the bush. I exhibited 4 large images and made an accordian book called “fiRE” which was about regeneration – it contained images with words like “REvive” “REjuvenate” “REbirth” etc. The image above is a composite of 3 images I took – one of a burnt tree from the fires, some flames, and new growth growing on a burnt tree. Do you see the victory fist?
