Image started as a portrait of my daughter. Used Photoshop’s chrome filter and layer blend mode effects to get ice effect. Flames from a log fire in Portugal, icicles on head from a Kodak Instamatic shot taken 25 years ago. Detail can be better seen in click to view larger! ... and for anyone who’s interested, this is the original picture… Ice Girl all thawed out as a teenager!

I was flipping through my iTunes catalogue and Massive Attack’s Protection caught my eye because of the flame icon on the cover. The flame/fire/flammable icon is such a strong graphical message, so I had a go at crafting my own for a tee. Enjoy!

Nat Tyler and Agent Provocateur have asked What’s your vision for the future? in a weekend T-shirt design challenge. The year 2258? It’s pretty hard for me to imagine a bright future right now. The lure of hover cars and pretty much everything we were promised in Back to the Future II is far outweighed by the thought that we’re pretty well fucked. What did we do with all that oil, all that coal, all those resources? We burned it.

A Phoenix emerges from the fiery breath of a great Silver Dragon, as they fly around a sun mandala. Pastel pencils on black bristol board, 32” x 40”. In Chinese literature, the Dragon represents the male, or Yang, while the phoenix represents the female, or Yin. They complement one another, creating balance. Oh man… It took me forever to get this one to the point where I would submit it here to RedBubble, haha. Anyway, it’s loosely based off of a tattoo design I drew up a while back. I was wanting “Strong and Courageous” in Latin across the banner, but the translators I found online came up with “Validus quod Fortis” which means “Mighty and Strong.” But it works well enough for me ;) Hope you guys like it!
