Echinacea purpurea (purple coneflower) with a dark twist. This was the first of my Dark Dreams flower series, most of which I have pulled from redbubble. It was also one of my first images here. Obviously it was photoshoped. I get a lot of questions about why there are scratches on it, it was to give it an old aged look. The texture would make it a great canidate for a canvas print… hint hint ;) This is the original: / I believe this is the largest image in my portfolio, and that is because it was taken with my old 35 mm SLR, then scanned in (I have a really good scanner that scans really big) If you are seeing this image in a group for the first time, that is because I just realized it wasn’t in any groups! I must have cleared it out to make room for newer stuff. This peice was my very first one chosen on the Featured Art page and was featured in Ebony and Ivory group. See, weeds can be beautiful too! This is a fleabane bloom (those tiny daisy-like weed/wildflowers). I gave it a somewhat painted look. This piece was featured in A Photographer’s Craft group. Thank You! —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / This piece can be found in my Flora Calendar.
This is Erigeron philadelphicus, aka Fleabane, cute lil daisy like weed, about the size of my thumb. I’ll probally change the name later. [NOTE: I did finally change the name from Erigeron philadelphicus to Keeping it Simple, lame I know, but better than it’s scientific name, right?] I like the simplicity of this picture, but it almost seems like something should be written in the left side. But I just don’t know what. I think it would make a nice card. This piece was featured in the Michigan Outdoors Group. DIGITAL PORTRAIT PAINTING – PHOTO PAINTING SERVICES Apple Blossom Chickadee has been nominated for the prestigous Pay it Forward Group by JackyP. This is what she said about your image / “.this is a particular favourite of mine and always makes me smile :) The image seems to sum up the arrival of spring with the lovely blossom and little chickadee. After a very long winter (so far) I needed something that sang Spring time is just around the corner! After a lot of fuss, and several hours, in Photoshop and Painter X this is the final result. Every pixel of this piece was re-painted (digitally) by hand. All of the apple blossoms and leaves were created from scratch. As a final touch I added some texture to the piece to give it that last little edge I was looking for. I hope this image inspires you to dream of Spring :) / / Lavender Finch / / Fine Art Gallery / Bird Gallery / ADD RENEE TO YOUR WATCHLIST
Featured in – The Birds, February 7, 2009 I can’t help but dream of summer, and much warmer temperatures, when I look at this image. This piece consists of 6 layers (the background, 5 different layers of pretty lavender blooms, and an adorable little american goldfinch). After merging all of the layers in PhotoShop I digitally painted the entire piece in Corel Painter X. My intent with the goldfinch was to make her look like a baby, that had just left the nest, and was still looking for Mom to bring her some food. / / Fine Art Gallery / Bird Gallery / ADD RENEE TO YOUR WATCHLIST

A photographic pastel impression of a bloom from my Jacob’s Ladder in my backyard.
This is the photo that won first prize in the Canon Photo Comp “Still Life” theme in the latest issue of the Australian magazine, Digital Photo + Design, out this week. Not only did it get a double page spread but I also won a Canon EOS 500D single lens SLR kit. As I currently have the EOS 400D and 40D I am over the moon. Now I can give my daughter my 400D. She’s over the moon too. This will be her first digital SLR. Canon EOS 350D.
Pure Watercolour on Arches 140lb This was a painting done on my recent trip to France. I picked a couple of white roses picked from the garden of the Gite where we stayed. Put them in a glass. Starting from the centre of one rose I worked outwards developing each petal as I went, adding foliage along the way. By turning the roses I could get different views. I prefer to work this way with flowers rather than draw them first, they have a different kind of freedom with a more natural look. They were actually white roses, but I decided to add colour to them, after all, white isn’t always white. 513 Views / 07th Nov ‘09
