As loans default and foreclosures increase, the lenders have to pay out more and more to hide the losses. But the lenders can only make this up by making more loans, because this is how they increase their cash flow; and now it is clear they can make nore loans, and thereby increase their cash flow only by simultaneously increasing their losses, since their “loans” are proving to be losers. So no one wants their”paper” anymore because-well-it’s the financial equivalent of toxic waste. The “subprime” stuff is just the first surge: the tidal wave is close behind. Because all of it, the subprime, the prime, the AAA and everything in between, is the product of a previously hidden, but now obvious…Ponzi scheme. A Ponzi scheme that is in the process of unraveling, as all Ponzi schemes eventually do. And what person wants to be the last idiot to buy into a Ponzi scheme? From: What the ‘Subprime’ Mess is Really About by John Regan Jr.
I don’t need to explain this one, do I? Twinned with:
The United States Government has pumped hundreds of billions of dollars into the financial system and bailed out banks whose poor decision making should have caused them to go out of business. Instead of being forced to learn their lesson, these poor-performing banks are being rewarded for their financial mismanagement, and the ultimate cost of this bailout will fall on the American taxpayers. .

Boston Harbour very early morning with a lovely but fast moving mist gave the scene a lovely orange glow, I had just enough time in between lens changes to catch the rowers passing by. I so should not have been where is was sitting to get this photograph of Lands End, UK. Within seconds of this shot being taken I was covered in spray and the grass became quite slippery around me. I did sit there for quite some time marveling at the power of the ocean, it was hypnotic. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/9, 1/640 sec, ISO 250. No filters used and hand held.
