  • Scanning old negatives from my archive, I have found a photograph of Cinque Torri (Five Towers) and Tofanas taken very late in the afternoon. I liked the combination of dark clouds and remaining summer haze that made the background looking very flat like in a painting. Just before clouds covered the sun completely, last rays fell on the Cinque Torri, a group of rocks very popular by climbers. To complete the feeling I had about the picture, I’ve applied ‘colored pencils’ filter in post-processing of this photograph. Dolomiti, Italy. August 2001. Canon EOS 500N, Sigma 28-135. Post-processing: retouch, sharpening, colored pencils, color enhancement, blend modes. Detail of the image showing the ‘color pencils’ effect:

  • A Dandylion after lots of rain, i brought it indoors and used a filter. This is a completly untouched picture.

  • ...if you were facing this way but most people were going the other way! I have a love/hate affair with freeways, hate being on them but love taking photos of them and seeing this one is only 5 minutes from my house it’s always the one I go to. Walking home from the station I looked up and that damn this is gonna be a good sunset and as I didn’t have enough time to get anywhere near the coast or somewhere beautiful I headed here instead. / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. • I was taken (almost against my will) to Victorian University of Technology in Footscray, Melbourne where one of my friend’s needed to make an appearance at their Open Day, of which she was involved in the planning. I spotted this set of stairs and railings on the way back to the car. Suddenly the trip there was all worthwhile :) It was an overcast day and lighting was poor, but with the help of level tweaking, a blue filter and a dash of contrast, this grey concrete was looking a lot more fire ravaged. Featured in Rustic / Featured in Around The World All processing was done between 10pm and 12am Canon SX100IS / f3.5, 1/125, ISO 100 MCN: C7E9A-3DADB-2259D

  • Affects achieved in camera. The use of a rainbow filter and a 50mm lens, murano glass vases and sunshine. Combined, it all makes some interesting patterns.

  • Autumn Roses seem to have a glow all of their own, perhaps that is in the mind’s eye because it is the last hurrah before / winter’s bluster spoils their petals, and freezes the remaining buds into rose mummies. / Here the Monarch Butterfly senses that it might be the last chance to catch the rose’s perfume before it, also,is just a pleasant garden memory. Fractalius Filter applied for the Autumn glow, Monarch Butterfly applied as a composite in Photoshop. / Origonal rose image taken in my garden in Shady Cove, Oregon.

  • A Monarch Butterfly on a butterfly bush, mirrored in water. / Butterfly bush background taken with a 50mm lens in manual mode, Monarch is added as a composite, using layers in Photoshop. Flood Filter mirrors the combined image.
