having given myself the afternoon to spend with redbubble I’ve decided to post a wildcard image into the fashion competion. Originally shot on velvia in available light and if you look really closely the model has a camera in her crotch. :) / This is a companion image to “Bloom” these look really good framed. hint hint :)

“The Melbourne Silver Mine Inc. is a non-profit incorporated association of enthusiastic analogue photographers based in Melbourne Australia. The group has been formed to achieve the following purposes: To encourage and promote the continued use, unique features and appreciation of traditional photographic techniques and equipment To assist in the exchange of ideas and enable collaboration on projects which promote the continued use of traditional photography to the wider community. To support the use of contemporary technologies in order to achieve these purposes. Although we primarily exist to promote traditional photo technologies we embrace modern and future techniques. Our members are very technologically aware and seek to demonstrate how traditional technologies can work with digital photography and other modern photographic techniques to achieve a new art form, drawing the best from both old and new methods. The Melbourne Silver Mine has formed over the past 18 months after a small group of like minded photographers formed on the photo sharing website flickr.com. The group continues to grow and inspire more photographers to return to film photography or to take it up for the first time. We share ideas, techniques and equipment. This enthusiasm gave rise to our inaugural exhibition of analogue photography, Unsensored07, which was held at Kerala Gallery in Northcote, Melbourne in November 2007. 12 photographers exhibited 24 works. In 2008, Unsensored08 is double in size with 30 photographers exhibiting 46 works at the Collingwood Gallery from 8th to 20th August 2008. We have plans for events, publications and collaborative photographic projects that highlight the group’s objectives. I’m preparing a new body of work for exhibiton later in the year and am working out ways to present these images. Yesterday I posted a single image muted landscpe #2 in order to invite some responses to the way I preparing the indivdual images with a very muted colouring and now today I’m posting a pair of images in a way that will replicate the way I want to present them. I’m thinking that I would do either three or four pairs of linked images individually framed but hung together in a series of pairs so that they will sort of look like this one….... Each photograph will be printed at around 20×24 inches and then with the matting and framing I estimate each pair will need about 2 metres of wall space for hanging. Let me know what you all think while I’m open to suggestions with this body of work and I’ll listen to all suggestions….... ta muchly in advance…...

Goodbye. © ryan This wonderful poem was written by the very talented writer and good friend / nicole ryan This series was shot the old fashioned way, the camera an old Pentax K1000 with ILford Black and White film and hand printed using high contrast filters. / This public toilet was utterly disgustingly dirty and had not been cleaned for who knows how long. The available light just made it look beautiful! / No post production on this, it’s a straight scan from the original hand printed print.

This is one of my favourite shots taken on black and white film and taken in St Mark’s Square in Venice, Italy. I have scanned the print. I like the timelessness of this shot, I think. She was surrounded by the pigeons at first and she didn’t mind. But later, one flew on her head and she minded a lot. I recently made a sale on redbubble with this shot. A matted print in Off White to Lucy, my sister-in-law, in the UK. Many thanks so much for purchasing this.
