  • I took this picture near the beach where I took my waterscapes «Fog and fire»«liquid diamonds»«fire and ice »«land of fire»while going on the other part of the camp at the other beach. It was very foggy as you can see and the scene was realy magic .The same morning I took« Mirage» and «HEADLAND» but those where taken at the other part of the lake. That’s why I have so many picture with fog.Every time fog is there I ‘m out and very early of course ,it’s so quiet and magic .Walking in the woods is a real passion …but that you already know….inspired from the movie /

  • ‘David Lynch Family Tree’ blood is thicker than reviewers…marginally…an ode to an amazingly psychoanalytical director and painter…I like deep red velvet curtains too! EDITION # of 20 SHIRTS

  • Well I’ve been uploading some pretty and colourful images for the last week or so and now I’m going to post some more of my dark landscapes again. All of this series will be infrared film images taken a couple of years ago at a friends place in the Hunter Valley. This is the first one which till now I’ve called very uninspiringly hill 5…. now its been reinvented as big hill little cow….. hope you like it

  • Another dark and brooding Infrared landscape taken early one morning somewere deep in the Hunter Valley. This majestic old tree shimmers with its own latent power in the stillness of the morning light and seems to dwarf the very sky…....

  • Another my current series of Infrared landscapes all shot somewhere deep within the Hunter Valley at a friends place a couple of years ago. This particular one is a companion shot to big hill little cow and shows more of the hill and none of the cow. I am quietly enjoying the softness of the early morning light playing with the contours of the trees on the hill side….. enjoy

  • This is my last big/little image upload of Infrared landscapes from the daniland series of photographs. This mysterious little scene was shot very early one morning before the heavy enveloping fog had been burnt off by the approaching heat of the day. The fog has shrouded these little trees so densely that if seems like a magical and mysterious scene from a sci-fi movie shot somewhere on an another planet. Walking through the heavy fog in this beautiful heavily forested area is certainly an amazing and magical experince and this particular photo comes as close the the reality of how that feels.

  • Ok Ok I know I said yesterday’s upload was the last of the big/little daniland IR landscapes….. but …... but I’ve had some interesting feedback on this series so I thought I’d put up another one…. maybe even two. The amazingly beautiful and talented Ange who is a very high level photoshop lecturer commented on a particular digital/analouge montage that I had posted ages and ages ago called starry valley five and in responding to her I realized that the source photo for that image was in fact one of the daniland images. So I thought I’d post the original image along side the digital montage so you all could see the difference in the two pictures. At the time of making the starry valley series I was convinced that the original negatives for the daniland series were too degraded to make convicing photographic works but my post production skills have improved somewhat and to be honest I’ve been pretty pleased with the response from so many people to them. So just for the hell of it here’s the original daniland shot taken in very low light at the end of a magnificent day in the Hunter Valley and you guys can compare it to the digital montage and decide for yourselves which you prefer.

  • 6×12 film. Recently it’s almost rainy everyday in Beijing. First time in this season for years.

  • Model – Millie Claire / MUA – Cloe Bunter of Makeup by Cloe Pentacon Six TL + Kodak Portra 160VC / I won’t show the digital versions, seems to have caused a little friction on dA ;) Needless to say if you’re familiar with the original Snow White text, you might just know what this is about :D Melbourne’s Parklands have very photogenic footpaths. I believe this was shot in the Queen Vic Park… I dunno, it was hot and there were a LOT of parks. Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas

  • This image was shot using a LOMO Action Sampler and 400 ASA Superia Fuji Film hence the slight grain. Lomo Action Sampler is best used for action shots. This is not an action shot however, i really like it. Other shots using the lomo action sampler One-second has been neatly dissected into four composite parts and lined up in perfect order to give you one shaky piece of 2×2 sampled action. / Tis more than a photograph and not quite a movie, you’ve got a permanent documentation of a snippet taken from your very own existence somewhere in the time-space continuum. / Tis also one wacky piece of photographic equipment, tis a real camera which consists of a tacky plastic box with four lenses strapped to the front, and inside are a few springs and cogs that reluctantly turn a full circle when you press the shutter release. / By some strange coincidence a standard boring old 35 mm film fits neatly into this box. Each time you hit the shutter release, despite the inferior quality of the lenses, light actually exposes the film at quarter-of-a-second intervals. / As soon as it’s bright enough the Action Sampler’s lenses go into action, giving you unexpected colours, haze and blur and a whole new world of shapes that’ll blow your mind. / The Action Sampler is not a finely tuned piece of apparatus made only of the finest in hand-crafted modern materials, it’s made of plastic. It is not a precision instrument with settings for the slightest nuance in aperture and lighting, it won’t even take a flash and the lenses are moody little beasties, reluctant to let any light get to the film at all.

  • This image is the prototype for a new body of work I’m developing for exhibition at Parliment House later in the year. The thing is that the wall where the works will be hung are dark port wine coloured. So I’m thinking the black and white prints in a white matt and black frame are going to look really sombre against the background so I’ve been fooling about with a little colour with these dreamy Infrared landscapes. There will be maybe six or even eight of them all about 20×24 inches then the framing so they will be a decent size when finished….. anyway my question is…. does this muted colour add to the image or detract? should I just stick to the B/W?

  • I’m preparing a new body of work for exhibiton later in the year and am working out ways to present these images. Yesterday I posted a single image muted landscpe #2 in order to invite some responses to the way I preparing the indivdual images with a very muted colouring and now today I’m posting a pair of images in a way that will replicate the way I want to present them. I’m thinking that I would do either three or four pairs of linked images individually framed but hung together in a series of pairs so that they will sort of look like this one….... Each photograph will be printed at around 20×24 inches and then with the matting and framing I estimate each pair will need about 2 metres of wall space for hanging. Let me know what you all think while I’m open to suggestions with this body of work and I’ll listen to all suggestions….... ta muchly in advance…...

  • every couple of months I head out of town and go and stay with a dear friend up in the Hunter Valley…... it’s a stunningly beautiful area and I never tire of photographing the landscape there. My friends live on the crest of a hill that rims a series of very dreamy misty valleys and there are many flooded creeks and little lakes to be found all around this lovely place. My favorite place in this chain of valleys is a tiny little hidden lake with a nautral sandstone grotto at its head and a minute island in the centre of it. The lake is only around 20 odd metres in length and the island is only big enough for two trees but it’s beauty is staggering. It’s like an ancient holy place and to just stand by the shoreline is a form of meditation. I have no idea if it has a proper name or not being so small but from the first time I saw it …. I’ve called it Genevieve’s Lake….. and the swirly misty magic of the landscape takes me away into other dimensions…... no perfidious Albian here….. just a faint lingering sense of the Lady of the Lake…...

  • I recently had the priviledge of travelling through central Australia. I scouted out this composition the day before taking this shot. With my planned return the following day and the show exceeded all expectations in a display of desert light and beauty.Glowing in the twilight, a lone ghost gum stands starkly and majestically. The scene backdropped by the jaw dropping West Macdonnell ranges. • Acrylic On Canvas Was inspired to do this piece after watching the movie, “In The Mood For Love”. Set in the Hongkong 60s, it’s a tale of forbidden love, full of regrets and secrets. This painting is my personal interpretation of the following lines from the movie. “In the old days, if someone had a secret they don’t want to share what do they do? They went up a mountain, find a tree, carved a hole in it and whispered the secret into the hole. Then they covered it with mud. And leave the secret there forever.” You can view and buy my other “Can You Keep A Secret” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

  • [Double Exposure Project #2 – Oregon and San Diego Exposed] This is one of the images produced through double exposing a roll of film with my amazingly talented, generous, and dear friend Matt Adamik. This is our second attempt at working with this process and I am in love with every image yet again. Matt lives in Oregon and I live in San Diego. He shot the roll first, mailed it to me, and I shot over top his photos. Neither of us knew what the other was shooting. The results are astounding and breathtaking. And fun! We will be collaborating on many more double exposure projects in the very near future. A wonderful way to bring Oregon and San Diego together, as well as the styles and friendships of two photographers. I am absolutely in love with this type of photography! I highly recommend it for everyone. Thank you Matt for everything! Goggles Down!
