  • This is a reinactment of pioneer days. She is kneading bread. Working by natural light. The picture was taken in Kentucky at a place called The Homeplace. Also available in Sepia.

  • This guy was pretty cool, sitting there minding his own business, and I just had to get the shot. But as I lifted the camera and looked through the lens he just broke into this mean stare into the lens like he was gonna hurt me. I saw it and quickly pressed the shutter. Later I complimented him on his tattoos and showed him the shot and it was then that his frown turned into a broad grin…phew!

  • Tina Arena. / 3200 ASA-As is

  • Location: Barcelona, Spain / Shot on on 3200 ISO high speed B&W film

  • For the amenity of self I’m only standing here / as long as it takes / to purge you from the centre of me / you sit back there thinking I’ve not got a heart / but I do / and I am going to take it back from you. I’m going to hold it / warm it again / and place it back where it belongs / in my chest / proud and functioning / without you. I care not that you are everything / one thing / more than something I ever wanted / It’s too late now / I am washing it all away; Down / around / circling through the bends / gurgling and spluttering / away into the ocean of tears / where the waves curl and lick the saltiness / under again where it belongs / today / I am going to stand up straighter than I ever have / there is no other way / I am going to stare at myself in that mirror / until my eyes become my own again / and I’m going to say it all / until I believe it. Goodbye. © ryan This wonderful poem was written by the very talented writer and good friend / nicole ryan This series was shot the old fashioned way, the camera an old Pentax K1000 with ILford Black and White film and hand printed using high contrast filters. / This public toilet was utterly disgustingly dirty and had not been cleaned for who knows how long. The available light just made it look beautiful! / No post production on this, it’s a straight scan from the original hand printed print.

  • This image was shot using 35 mm colour transparency film then chemically cross processed (e6 to c41), doing this can give you lovely green hues. The original analogue photograph was then scanned and only the cubed effect was achieved using photoshop. Some cubes were also slightly desaturated with photoshop too.

  • just shy of 6 years worth… / (By the way I do not actually have giant hobbit feet, that’s just from the tilt of the camera) / 100% digital free as always.

  • This image was shot on Fujichrome Velvia film (transparency film) and the transparency was manipulated further using a Daylab printer and Polaroid pull apart film. Once the positive was formed, some citroclean was sprayed onto it and it was placed into a bath of water. The emulsion lifts off its backing and is floating literally like very fine seaweed in the water. Extreme care was taken to lift this emulsion out of the water and onto blotting paper. Whilst it is still wet it can be manipulated further into any shape you wish. In this case a very rugged border. Once dry it sets into the blotting paper. This is the final result. This is a very unique technique as you will never be able to reproduce the same image twice due to the fact that it is dependant on how carefully and with a huge amount of experimentation, you retrieve the emulsion out of the water and how you manipulate it on the paper while it is wet. Everything about this technique is experimental. Firstly a variety of transparency films were experimented with. Pulling the emulsion off the backing of the Polaroid film was also experimented with. A few different cleaners were used due to the chemicals present in them and I found that citroclean worked best at doing this. More works created with this technique can be found here A Polaroid film transfer of the image was also created and can be found here

  • This is one of my favourite shots taken on black and white film and taken in St Mark’s Square in Venice, Italy. I have scanned the print. I like the timelessness of this shot, I think. She was surrounded by the pigeons at first and she didn’t mind. But later, one flew on her head and she minded a lot. I recently made a sale on redbubble with this shot. A matted print in Off White to Lucy, my sister-in-law, in the UK. Many thanks so much for purchasing this. This shot was featured in the Urban Art Group and the I love Italy Group.

  • This is a gift for my dear ZOMBIE and the GRINDHOUSE group. A portrait of Captain Spaulding. 24×30 cm / Acrylics, Gouache & Watercolours on canvas board / Full view please Captain Spaulding was born on April 13, 1918 in Ruggsville, Texas with the name Johnny Lee Johns. He spent a small part of his childhood in the Ruggsville County home for orphaned boys until being adopted by a black family. Johnny Lee would soon grow very close to his adoptive brother Charlie. Johnny Lee developed an interest in sideshow deformities and violent crime photography, foreshadowing his Captain Spaulding persona. He began his murder spree as Mr. Ding Dong a Bo-Bo using his clown character’s name. Charlie would refer to him as Cutter after Johnny Lee stabbed a man to death, which he would take as his name. Around the fall of 1947, Cutter met Mother Firefly, who at the time took the alias Eve Wilson. She already had two children of her own, Rufus and Tiny. Cutter lived with Eve Wilson, even raising their daughter Vera Ellen together. During the summer of 1965, Otis B. Driftwood, wandered into Ruggsville County. He and Otis quickly became close companions and rivals. The two would often fight for control of the family. Otis was asked to live with the family; whom Otis called The Fireflys and it was he who also nicknamed Cutter, Captain Spaulding.
