Murphy seems to be interested in these Dutch wooden shoes. Perhaps it was because he knew how well the blue matched his eyes. The Ragdoll is an American cat breed with a medium-length, silky, rabbit-like coat. It is best known for its docile and placid temperament and affectionate nature. Ragdolls have a sturdy body with a large frame, proportionate legs, and a soft coat with Siamese-style points. Adult cats can be 15-20 lbs without being considered obese, and a fatty pad under the abdomen is typical. They are typically have a very gentle and relaxed temperament. When socialized from birth they are attentive and affectionate members of the family that enjoy and seek out human companionship. Ragdoll cats remain playful throughout their lives, adjust well to children and pets and are sometimes called “puppy-cats” because of their propensity to follow their owners from room to room and meet them at the door. Ragdoll cats are demurely vocal, careful with their claws and teeth when in play, plus forgiving of accidental mistreatment. Because of their non-defensive nature, a Ragdoll should never be allowed outdoors unattended. Ah the fabled cherry—the poetic color of luscious lips, and just as sweet. It started out in West Asia (perhaps the Persia-Armenia region) and in two varietals from which all cultivated cherries are descended: Prunus avium (sweet) and Prunus cerasus (sour). Sweet cherries had spread to Ancient Greece and the Mediterranean by 300 BCE, for Theophrastus mentions them. And Pliny the Elder (1st century AD) mentions that some 8 varieties of cherries were being cultivated in Italy—and that the Romans were spreading them as far north as Britain. The British, in turn, carried it to the New World in the 17th century (Beyond the huge crops in Michigan, California, Oregon, and Washington, American wild cherries include the chokecherry, the pin cherry, and the wild black cherry. Sour cherries have spread even farther north, and are a speciality of Germany and Scandanavia. Today it is estimated that some 900 sweet varieties (ranging in color from yellow to black) and some 300 sour varieties are being grown. Most sweet cherries will produce fruit only after they’ve been cross-pollinated—honey bees usually do the leg work, carrying pollen from a sweet cherry of another variety soupsong.com See some samples of the collection below, and view the entire collection to date, at the Bubblesite HERE / Plum Blossom with Apples and Cream / / Sour Cream Bumbleberry Tart with an Apricot Glaze / / Ginger Shortcake with Nectarines and Creme Fraiche / / Spicy Chewy Ginger Cookies / / Chocolate Cupcake with a Mocha Swirl / / Cinnamon Bun / / Scone with Berries and Cream / / Lemon curd and Blueberry Tart
This tee is the same as the other McHammer Cat & Rapty Bird, only I’ve given them a white colour-in, so they’ll show up nicer on darker shirts. You can choose which you like best! Oh, McHammer! You’re so great! You rap like cool kids! Only not quite using the exact same lyrics as MC Hammer, because Laurie misheard them, and then felt sad when she corrected them to the right lyrics, and so changed them back again. I like them much better this way, and it assuages any nagging feelings of copyright violation I may have had… (The actual lyrics go: / “Yo! I told you / Why you standing there, man? / Yo,sound the bells, school is in, sucker” / But when the cat was saying them, it didn’t suit him…)
Summer is not too far away and this soup is a great way to consume that flood of tomatoes when you grow your own. Come to think of it, this tastes great anytime, so why wait? Cream of Tomato and Basil Soup 1 Onion / 4 Garlic Cloves / 1 Long Sweet Red Pepper / 12 Medium Size Tomatoes / 2 oz or 50g Butter / 250ml Chicken Stock / 75ml Double Cream / 1 Desert Spoon of Dried Basil / Some Fresh Basil / ¼ Tsp Ground White Pepper / 1 Level Tsp Sea Salt Peel and chop the garlic cloves and the onion. De-seed and chop the long sweet red pepper. Melt the butter in a large saucepan and add the onion, garlic and sweet red pepper. Cover and simmer gently stirring now and then until the onions are soft – about ten minutes. Meanwhile, cut the tomatoes in half, splitting where the stalk was. Cut out a V to remove the hard stalk remnants and roughly chop the tomatoes. Add them to the other ingredients and bring everything back to a simmer. Add the dry basil, salt and pepper, cover, and let it all stew gently for about 20 minutes stirring occasionally. Add the chicken stock and simmer gently for another ten minutes. Remove from the heat and now blend all the ingredients in a liquidiser or with an electric hand blender. Return it to the saucepan, taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Stir in 50ml of double cream saving 25ml for presentation. Serve with some torn fresh basil leaves and a swirl of cream. Revel in the taste, consume luxuriously then relax for ten minutes. Take the dog for a walk. YOU FILL ME UP You fill me up when I am empty, / Like no one else has done; / Pour warmth into my spirit, / Like rays from summer sun. You’ve placed a seed within me, / That has grown into a vine; / Of sheer unbridled passion, / Tendrils curled and intertwined. You fill me up when I am empty, / Like an overflowing cup; / No one else has ever filled me so, / Yet my Love, you fill me up. Allison Chambers Coxsey
