Melbourne Zoo / The Fiji crested iguana (Brachylophus vitiensis) is a critically endangered species of iguana native to certain of the islands of Fiji. The species is thought to have evolved from an iguana species which rafted from South America 13 million years ago. The generic name, Brachylophus, is derived from two Greek words: brachys meaning “short” and lophos meaning “crest” or “plume”, denoting the short spiny crests along the back of this species / Wikipedia
Vanua Levu Island Fiji
The Yasawa Islands, Fiji. It was a lazy day. There isn’t much to do there except sit on the beach and get in the ocean. I sat in a hammock and watched this fly crawling on a chartreuse-colored leaf. A thatched roof structure stood in the background with the warm wind blowing throuh it. The beautiful blue island waters lapped at the shore in the background.
I like the colour of this Iguna.
