  • Floating figure emeges from watery background

  • My friend’s dad water skiing on the Hawkesbury river in January 2006. This is from my old digital camera – Pentax Point ‘n’ Shoot with 3x zoom. So I was quite suprised by the fairly decent image quality. And there is no de-saturation of the image here either. It just came out black and white because of the sun behind the boat.

  • Oil on canvas, 24×36 This painting, except for the girl is based entirely on photographs provided by Robin Zornes, my photographer friend from Dallas, TX . You can see a gallery of her photos at www.robinzornes.com The arch is part of the historic Espada Aqueduct near San Antonio, TX built by Spanish missionaries and the local Coahuiltican Indians when the Spaniards moved across Texas converting the native Americans to Catholicism. / The Coahuiltican Indian population was eventually assimilated into the invading Spanish/Mexican population and their culture was lost.

  • Impressionist, digital oil painting. / Digital painting is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art, particularly computer-generated art, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer. / I create the painting, directly on my PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.

  • This is one of formerly 400 figurines, displayed since 2002 in Hamburg, northern Germany. / Those figurines remind the viewer of Johann Wilhelm Bentz (1787-1854), called “Hummel”, who was a water-carrier in Hamburg. The name “Hummel” wasn’t meant in a friendly way, so whenever a group of children called the heavy-loaded man “Hummel, Hummel” he reacted annoyed and shouted back “Mors, Mors”, meaning something like “Screw you!”. Nowadays “Hummel, Hummel – Mors, Mors!” is a way to say hello in a friendly way, just like during carnival season. / The figurines were designed by art students or famous artists and were auctioned for charitable cause in 2006. Only a few are left in the city. / This one can be found next to the “High Flyer” – a fixed balloon, rising up to 150m above ground, near the port of the city.
