I use it to do my stomach crunches and sit-ups. I remembered the movie, “The Professional” and decided to belt myself to the edge of my bed to do my sit-ups, the way Leon did in the movie, until my new stability ball arrived. I ended up hooking a bunch of belts together and thought to myself “Hey, that would make an awesome photo prop!” and the Belted series was conceived. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / visit the rest of this series . . . / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / This image is featured in Jaeda’s Artography Book! / / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / browse Jaeda’s photographic art by category: / dreamscapes, artistic nudes, couples, glamour, erotica, conceptual, sensual, portrait, spiritual, survivor art / /

I had to wade through the darkness of surviving, an abusive childhood, to come out into the light. I am happy to say i’ve arrived at a good place in my healing journey. This image, my words, they reflect a time and place, when things were very dark and the pain was difficult to navigate. Pain is a predator, if you run from it, it will hunt you down, face it and it will move through you . . . eventually. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / visit the rest of this series . . . / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / browse Jaeda’s photographic art by category: / dreamscapes, artistic nudes, couples, glamour, erotica, conceptual, sensual, portrait, spiritual, survivor art / /

The background texture is made of 4 different layered and manipulated photos (close up images of natural textures). • On Zazzle / On DeviantART Won a Today’s Best Award on Zazzle (second page, bottom row) Closeup of a picture I’m workng on – I liked this bit on its own, and I wanted to show a closeup on the details anyway. Very Sandman and Neil Gaiman inspired (specifically, the Endless – Mostly Death, but also Dream, Destiny and Desire), but not actually OF them. Some personal stuff in there – some emotional imagery, some pretty details that mean nothing. / The pain of caring and protecting something beautiful that feeds on you and hurts you. The paleness of being only a shadow compared to another’s light and glory. The power of darkness and being unknown, and the restraint possessed and never seen. And I just had a completely different idea for the background… Anyway, the full picture’s up to fours hours at the moment (and hasn’t been touched for awhile…), this bit… was maybe two hours. • A reimagined piece from “awakening” and my final painting for the upcoming art show. Not really sure the size of the cabinet door but if you could have only seen how stressed I was trying to come up with a color scheme for this one. Take a step into my mind and see what meaning this conjured up: With everything that has surrounded me in the past couple months, the stress of class, unknown depression, and just the inability to be happy, the one thing that has kept me breathing is my love, but more importantly the love given to me which has kept my body warm. I don’t think I need to spell it out to ya now with my color choices. So…um…enjoy

  • Colored pencils on Bristol board, / 12 x 9 / 2008 Another Astroportrait. Isobel is my daughter, a triple Sagittarius (Sun, Moon and Rising Sign), with a predominance in Fire and Water. I wanted that her portrait had a surreal, magical quality, what I achieved using strong colors and abstract elements. My idea was to portray her as a little elf, as a fun thing. A unicorn was chosen to keep her company: a “lighter” symbol for Sagittarius, more appropriate for a child’s portrait than the traditional centaur. An open field with trees which leaves remind red flaming hearts compounds the background. Isobel is all heart, a spirit full of passion and intensity. A river runs trough the field – the water quality of her personality. Differently from the mysterious ocean water of my own portrait, peaceful Isobel’s water nurtures and refreshes, representing the caring side of her personality. On the other side of the background we see a deep sky, symbol of the desire for expansion and unlimited freedom of Sagittarius. Two hummingbirds, symbols of optimism – another trait of Sagittarius – come out of the deep blue. On her hair, a crown of lotuses, flower I like to use to represent the sign of Scorpio. Although Isobel is not a Scorpio herself, she’s got a formidable stellium (an alignment of planets) in this sign, what gives her a lot of Scorpio characteristics. The triskele on the right top shows the glyph of Sagittarius and the color red, for Fire. Red is also in one side of her clothes – the other is blue, for Water. Related work: / Ariel and The Lion
