A self-portrait with another self-portrait and my last painting as a background. Foreground: Nude, pastel drawing on watercolor paper, private collection Europe / Background: YouMe, oil on canvas, private collection Australia I reluctantly did this self-portrait, it was one of the compulsory themes for my final exam in Portraiture Photography. My teacher told us to come with something creative and interesting, and gave us some amazing examples from previous years. I left this till the last moment because nothing interesting crossed my mind. In the end I took my last drawing for Chris Orchard’s class and my last painting and did this. I used the natural light which was coming from the balcony from my right side. The image wasn’t “photoshoped”. / Finally when I got up there in front to talk about my work, I was surprised to see that this work was everyone’s favorite. It was the least prepared of all my works. The commission selected it to put it on the school website, and not long after, The Advertiser news paper, called me to publish it. My agent printed it on a large canvas which was sold during South Australian Living Artists Festival.

Bluebell was my first ‘holiday piece’ this year! She’s wearing a headband similar to the one I picked up when I arrived in Brisbane and has the sweetest little expression. I think she’s just darling with those gigantic fluttery eyelashes and wild blue hair. ..................♥ the fine print ♥…............... This is a pastel painting of my niece, Sasha, at the mirror in my Mothers bedroom. I posed her so that I would be able to see her in both mirrors. I wanted to pose her in late afternoon to capture the warm light illuminating her. This painting is approximately life size. Painted on oversize Canson paper in deep blue color. Received the Vincent and Barbar Giffuni Purchase Award in the Pastel of America’s Pastel Only Show in NY, NY.

Impressionist, painterly / Two boys doing what they do best in the rain. Originally impressionism was that the colour should be dropped pure on the canvas rather than mixed on the palette. Today, now that we have so many new paints and mediums to work with, while the original concept of impressionism remains the same, styles and techniques have evolved. / My style of Impressionism embraces traditional painting. It is the evolution of impressionism that i am hoping to achieve, from the original traditional techniques of impressionist painting all the way to this modern impressionist digital art which can be stylized and painterly depending on my subject and mood. My work is hand painted digital painting and is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art, particularly computer-generated art, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer. / I create the painting, directly on my PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.
