Water colour with a touch of pastel.
Mixed Mediums on Canvas.
Inspired by the textures of luxury and oppulance this painting has been created using mediums ranging from acrylic, glue, inks, gold leaf, shellac, pastel and layers of various papers. Please view the large version of this painting if you have the time, I believe it shows the details and textures much better. I will be very interested in your comments as this painting presented many hurdles during the process, some mediums just don’t like working together! Pastel is not traditionally varnished, but I have defied tradition! For developement of the painting you can view my journal entry where I have uploaded a few pictures of this work in progress. Now that it is complete I will upload a few more of the stages of developement for those interested, yes BillyLee – I am thinking of you : ) Thanks for viewing and leaving your comments. Carmen : )
This painting is inspired by the healing elements provided by mother nature and patterns and textures from around the world. Unfortunately much of the fine detail and penwork is lost in the photograph, the original work needs to be viewed to really appreciate the beauty and detail. (Perhaps you could take the time to view the larger version..) The painting has been painted using a variety of professional artist quality mediums including water colour, inks, acrylic paint, gold leaf and shellac. Size approx 60×40cm. It seems to make a nice card, not sure about it with a black frame, though…? / although… not too bad framed. Look forward to reading your comments, Thanks as always! X C

I tweaked the colors of this image so that it works better with RB previews. Based on pictures from previous buyers I think it will print much more vibrant that the previews show. I also added a few details. This image is available as a PRINT
This is a variation on that wonderful little art deco piece from Dover Publications copyright free archives that I used for ‘Hollywood Nefertiti’. I watched an old Charlie Chan movie the other night and it got my imagination going. I’m an old ‘B’ movie junky. I love them. So Charlie Chan eat your heart out. This is a vamp in the old Hollywood tradition only this time around in living color. / I have gone back and looked up the music I was listening to when I was designing this. The music was on one of those info-commercials. I found them on ‘YouTube’, my son told me you can find anything on youtube. The name of the group is ‘The Twelve Girls Band’ a group of super beautiful very talented chinese musicians using traditional instruments. This selection doesn’ emphasize the traditional instruments but I think it captures the elegant feel I was trying for with the artwork. I’m a fan. / link below, take a listen The Twelve Girls Band FEATURED ‘Music Inspired Art Group’ / Top Ten-- ‘Signature Style’ challenge, Painted Ladies group For that bright flash of color or as a conversation piece in your decor use a small ‘Mounted Print’ on a plate easel, chic.
