From my own painting, now in exhibition in Gainsborough, UK
This image is dedicated to all our miliary men and women who have fought and are currently fighting so we may have freedom. Sept.11, 2001 was 6 years ago today. A day the world will never forget. Many brave men and woman gave their all. Let us not ever forget them…
I managed to put together a home made lightbox, and this is the first proper result I’ve had with it (it’s a composition, of course).

So it’s not really that I have so much extra time to do things like this… but who could resist staging a fight between their stapler and staple remover by the sink and turning it into a photoshoot? /
Personally i always find it a better skill to be able to find ‘peace of mind’ rather than give someone a ‘piece of my mind’. But then again people love a bit of drama! haha…and you could read this as portioning out pieces! ps-Sorry if you saw this last night…i wasn’t happy so i deleted it and started from scratch again. Now i must have also repented and officially completed my goodness challenge! Back to business…stay tuned!
Fort Amherst is located at the entrance of St. John’s Harbor opposite Signal Hill across the Narrows’. The Fort was built in the 1770’s to defend the entrance of the Narrows’. Gun placements were used at The Fort during WWII to protect the harbor from German U-boats. In 1813 a lighthouse was built at Fort Amherst and was to be the first permanent lighthouse established in Newfoundland. It operated until 1835 but was then replaced by a new structure in 1852, which was demolished in the early 1950’s to make way for the new lighthouse which is seen today. / More in this series / / / / / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography

The ruins of the Redcliff Radar Station. All the buildings are now crumbling and in ruin. This is the inside shot of the radar station. The stairs used to lead to the second level of the station but now there is just open sky. The station has been abandoned since 1961. Radar operators in the AC&W Squadron tracked the movements of aircraft sighted and passed speed, height and direction information to a Direction Centre (DC) and fighter interceptor squadrons. Fighter aircraft could be airborne in minutes after an alarm was given, and they closed in on unidentified planes by means of direction provided by the radar operators. Another of the Red Cliff functions was furnishing navigational aid to friendly aircraft operating in the area. Their detection of May-Day calls contributed to quick search and rescue efforts. / / More in this series / / / / / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography

A digital photo montage that fictionally depicts the fight to defend Newcastle in the Second World War. Edited in Paint Shop Pro - / I selected the sky and deleted it and then imported the sky from another photo. I applied a filter effect to the building and imported the image of the airplane which had been removed from its background and scaled down. I duplicated the airplane and positioned the copy on a new layer. I applied a tinting layer to the whole image to soften the contrast between the sky, planes and building. The bunker photographed is located at Shepherds Hill in Newcastle. Newcastle was never invaded by the Japanese in WWII, but one of their submarines did fire all 34 of their shells on the 8th of June 1942. No one in Newcastle was injured and many shells that landed caused little damage and some did not even explode on impact. Fort Scratchley, a couple of miles north of Shepherds Hill fired 4 rounds back at the submarine.
OK, they aren’t really fighting. ATilla probably just lay down in the wrong spot. Back to Nick’s shop
Submerged Sherman tank off Saipan’s Garapan Beach, Northern Mariana Islands, USA The Battle of Saipan was a battle of the Pacific campaign of World War II, fought on the island of Saipan in the Mariana Islands from 15 June 1944 to 9 July 1944. The invasion fleet embarking the expeditionary forces left Pearl Harbor on June 5, 1944, the same day Operation Overlord was launched with the invasion of Normandy. The Normandy landings were the larger amphibious landing, but the Marianas invasion fielded the larger fleet. By July 7, the Japanese had nowhere to retreat. Saito made plans for a final suicidal banzai charge. On the fate of the remaining civilians on the island, Saito said, “There is no longer any distinction between civilians and troops. It would be better for them to join in the attack with bamboo spears than be captured.” At dawn, with a group of a dozen men carrying a great red flag in the lead, the remaining able-bodied troops — about 3,000 men — charged forward in the final attack. Amazingly, behind them came the wounded, with bandaged heads, crutches, and barely armed. The Japanese surged over the American front lines, engaging both Army and Marine units. The 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 105th U.S. Infantry were almost destroyed, losing 650 killed and wounded. However, the fierce resistance of these two battalions, as well as that of Headquarters Company, 105th Infantry, and elements of 3rd Battalion, 10th Marines (an artillery unit) resulted in over 4,300 Japanese killed. For their actions during the 15-hour Japanese attack, three men of the 105th Infantry were awarded the Medal of Honor – all posthumously. Numerous others fought the Japanese until they were overwhelmed by the largest Japanese Banzai attack in the Pacific War . Many hundreds of Japanese civilians committed suicide in the last days of the battle, some jumping from “Suicide Cliff” and “Banzai Cliff”. Efforts by U.S. troops to persuade them to surrender instead were mostly futile. Widespread propaganda in Japan portraying Americans and British as “devils” who would treat POWs barbarically, deterred surrender (see Japanese Military Propaganda (WWII)). In the end, about 22,000 Japanese civilians died. Almost the entire garrison of troops on the island — at least 30,000 — died. For the Americans, the victory was the most costly to date in the Pacific War. 2,949 Americans were killed and 10,364 wounded, out of 71,000 who landed. – Wikipedia WARNING / ©2009/2010 Globalphotos All rights reserved. / All photographs, text and images by Globalphotos are the exclusive property of Globalphotos – protected under Australian and international copyright laws. / These images may not be reproduced, copied or manipulated without written permission. / No use for Public Domain. / Use of any image for another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of copyright.

.... I’m going to save the planet. On this Remembrence day 11.11.09. Sixteen years before each of the two great wars baby boys born were destined to save the world from the enemy when they grew up. Now, we have a different fight and cause! Our hopes rest with young people like Nelson. That his focused gaze is on the future and his childrens future! Look after them & teach them well, they are our only hope. Canon 50D / Canon 28-135 lens
