The balloons have just been inflated.First with cold air so the heat won’t damage the material the balloon is made of and then with hot air. Taken at Lyrup, near Renmark, S.A June long weekend.The noise of the burners, the tourists, photographers makes an awesome sight. They’re almost ready to take off. Taken with my EOS Canon 400 D

The first of the balloons take off, their burner’s glowing on and off in the early morning of the June long weekend. They drift over the trees and disappear.It is quite a sight from the ground.A totally different experience from flying in one, which I have done before.

This balloon landed in a paddock. Unfortunately the clouds were building up. Making for a very grey sky.Ballooning is an activity everyone should experience.A way to relax , escape and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and unwind.Having been up in a balloon before this was a completely different experience following them.A bit like the tornado followers in America but without the dangers.Something different for a great weekend.The Riverland , S.A.is a beautiful place and should be on everyone’s agenda.

Every year in Oliva Spain they have what is called the ” Porrot ” It is a stew with pork, rabbit, rice and a plant which is just like celery. It is cooked on open fires. They start about 10 in the morning and serve it up at 1.30. It attracts people from all over and it,s absolutely free. They also lay on red wine which is also free.

The wonderful Special Shapes balloons bring entertainment to every one ! the only complaint ! one, has to get up so early , fight traffic in the dark, For What, seeing the most photographed event of the Year, October 3rd to the 11th, 2009, Balloon Fiesta has it’s own Main street, as a photographer, one gets to see the reaction of the crowds, I’ve been to Disneyland, DisneyWorld, and Ebcott, but here everyone smiles, it must be infectious !
