  • I took this photo in the Olmense Zoo (Olmen, Belgium). / I just looooooove their big ears and fuzzy fur! Here’s a little bio on them: class: Mammalia (mammals) / order: Carnivora (carnivores) / family: Canidae (K9) / genus: Fennecus Zerda where? African Desert, Sinaï Desert and Arabic Peninsula They can live solitary as well as in groups up to ten species and they can reach an age of 12 years! / Being the tiniest of all foxes and weighing approximately 1 to 1,5 kilogramms, they look very adorable with their soft silk-like furr, but in fact they can be very fierce. And they like their rest. / Their big ears are to keep their bodytemperature constant. Although they can be fierce killers, the mailes are the most perfect example of a good housefather, when his female friend is pregnant. (how sweet is that!!) / There are know to bring food the their pregnant partners and continue to do so even after the female has given birth to the little ones. / They are also known to stay together for a very long time but whether or not they are faithfull remains the question..

  • The lion is a vulnerable species, having seen a possibly irreversible population decline of 30 to 50% over the past two decades in its African range; populations are untenable outside designated reserves and national parks. Although the cause of the decline is not well-understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are currently the greatest causes of concern. Lions have been kept in menageries since Roman times and have been a key species sought after and exhibited in zoos the world over since the late eighteenth century. Zoos are cooperating worldwide in breeding programs for the endangered Asiatic subspecies. The Fractalius Filter was applied to this image to achieve these results.

  • Cooper’s Hawk (Accipiter cooperii) This beautiful bird was so busy looking for tiny movements in the grassy field beneath her that she barely noticed the camera lens pointed at her. • Please View Large This spot is a little north of Bombo (Kiama) / There was nowhere to drive the car close to here, so I had to hike it on foot for about 1km from bombo beach. Before I even got close to this spot I could hear the roar of the ocean, it was like thunder. / I must say I have never witnessed such power and ferocity of the ocean before like I have at this area, because I was standing so close to it all, it was awesome. One slip and I would have been fish food, so you can imagine I was extra careful setting up here :) Nikon d80 / f/11 / I raw, photomatrix
