“Forgotten Fields” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © An old moss covered timber gate at the corner of a field of grass. “Whenever my journey gets hard to bear / To fields I go to meet You there. / The Holy psalms I shall recount / My horse of courage I shall mount. / My journey through this land gets longer / My hunger for Your home gets stronger. / When hills to climb get only steeper / My love for You gets only deeper. / I shall not stray nor lose my course / With rein in hand, I’ll guide my horse / To fields of good and plenty be / These fields, the ones You promised me / Are void of enemies and grief. / These fields supply me with relief. / I mount my horse, I’m on my way / And in Your fields, My Lord, I’ll stay.” / ~Marie Paradise
“Homeward Bound” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © A cattle property at Marlborough, Queensland “Bind me not to the pasture, chain me not to the plow. / Set me free to find my calling and I’ll return to you somehow. / If you find it me you’re missing, if you’re hoping I’ll return. / To your thoughts I’ll soon be listening, and on the road I’ll stop and turn. / Then the wind will set me racing as my journey nears its end. / And the path I’ll be retracing when I’m homeward bound again.” / ~ Kaelyn Archer
“Rolling On” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © An approaching afternoon storm appears on the horizon while a field of hay bales are still glowing in the sun. / Bowen, Queensland. “And then to dwell in sovereign barns, / And dream the days away, / The grass so little has to do, / I wish I were the hay!” / ~Emily Dickinson

Taken a few miles east of Leicester, near Allexton. Its that time in the UK, just before the wheat gets harvested – heavy heads beginning to nod gently under the weight of the grain, and the weather unable to decide whether it is summer or not, threatening to flatten the crop, just it is ready. Leicestershire is full of distant horizons like this, and the Barley is all but in now, much of the ground already having been put under the plough in readiness for the next crop.

Lost in Utah would have been a more apt title after the GPS affectionately known as “Dorothy” lead me to a graveyard instead of a lake lol. I discovered some gorgeous countryside along route. There is nothing better than getting lost :))
Taken from a field over looking Kirby Underdale and the Vale of York on a very foggy early evening in November 2008 this photo shows the fog settling down in the valley beyond a lone tree and hale bale

“A Boab Sunrise” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © Sony a100 camera / Photoshop CS4 artwork The Australian Aboriginal legend of the Boab Tree (or Bottle Tree): “When the tree God created the Boab Tree it was to be the most beautiful of all trees in the universe, with the most beautiful flowers and bearing the juiciest fruit. But as the tree grew to maturity its flowers were mediocre and its fruit had a bad odour and tasted vile. The Tree God became so angry that he yanked the Boab out of the ground and slammed it back in the earth upside down and that is why today, when you see a Boab tree, it looks as if its roots are growing up in the air.” Thangool, Queensland A Boab Sunrise was featured in the: Trees group – Sept 09 Image Writing group – Sept 09 Queensland group – Sept 09 Inspired Art group – Oct 09
